This book is a must read, giving you a first hand account of how the case was handled by Herts police, and goes into great detail on the crime itself and the people that were involved. Lane and Smitted were sentenced to life in 2005 after they were found further guilty of killing David King, a suspected police informer. Since 1994 Kevin has wrote over 10,000 letters and has also penned a book to highlight the Criminal Justice System and the use of public interest immunity certificates which keeps important evidence hidden from police view.

He is considered the UK Mr Shawshank having wrote over 10,000 letters to bring awareness to his wrongful plight. He revealed documents there were held secret under the public interest immunity regulations that show details of Vincent's conversations with one of the investigating officers, who ended up in jail too. I think this is an excellent story that is full of excitement, adventure and populated with believable and empathetic characters. Kevin Lane Standing in the gym showers, faced with two dangerous criminals hellbent on inflicting serious violence on me.

His case was initially covered in the Guardian in 2001 and was later the subject of a short film as part of the Guardian’s Justice on Trial series. Can you please take a minute of your time to support Kevin by signing and sharing this petition through your social media?

But was he really a hitman who killed Great Train Robber Charlie Wilson, and had links to the Russian mob? Not withstanding the original leading suspect in the murder trial, Rodger Vincent, engaged in 'off the record' confidential chats, with Detective Spackman. While in a police cell, Lane alleges Spackman came in and told him: “You think you’re the daddy of this lot, don’t you?hour armed protection police officers were attached to the judge and each jury member for both trials. The story is written in the third person, letting us see the story from the perspective of those involved and I feel that a story of this type is best told in this narrative. I don’t know Kevin Lane personally but after reading this book, I feel like I have known him my entire life.

Wouldn’t it be simply unbelievable that I’d choose a car I had been driving my family about in just a few days before? In the Magill murder a witness describes one of the men brazenly smiling as he drove away from the scene. Reckless, despicable, Timion’s own band of mercenary men turn against him, leaving him for dead in a back alleyway. The BMW car allegedly used as the getaway vehicle was traced, and one of Lane’s palm prints was found on a bin-liner in the boot.Comparisons are difficult and only Raymond E Feist’s Magician really comes to mind and this only because of both books featuring two very different worlds. Both men have denied their involvement in the Magill murder and in his book, Lane reveals some details about the cases. However in January 1995, Kevin was shockingly and alarmingly arrested for the 1994 contract killing of Robert Magill. Witnesses saw two masked men fleeing the scene in a red BMW after shooting Magill, who was known to have a number of enemies because of his involvement in protection rackets. Very good book, hopefully when appeal is won it must lead a great deal of change to legislation within law of the criminal justice system, and powers of investigation and witholding of evidence used or unused because the ultimate outcome in a court of law is supposed to be the truth and also LAW ITSELF IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON TRIAL.
