About this deal

Contains seven previously unreleased track from Parton's time with Monument Records: "Send Me No Roses", "Wanted, "I Keep Intending to Tell You", "You Made a Woman of Me Too Soon", "Only Me and My Hairdresser Know", "Not from My World", and "You Never Took the Time". Her songwriting has always been personal, but she is concerned with the universality of her experiences rather than the narcissistic specificity of what is expected from our modern pop stars. This album is a recording of a radio broadcast from April 23, 1977 of Parton performing at the Boarding House in San Francisco, California. What surprised me most about the Dolly project was how much I enjoyed her gospel music, and how much religion seemed integral to both her appeal and her songwriting.

The album is a collaborative project with a variety of rock musicians, marking Parton's first foray into the genre. Both of these classic albums have been newly remastered for a three-CD collection packed with rare and unreleased music produced by Harris herself. Parton performed the album's lead single "World on Fire" for the first time at the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on May 11, 2023.She sounds great on the downhome southern rock of Freebird and duetting with goddaughter Miley Cyrus on Wrecking Ball. To go over the same territory actually allows for the songs to improve and the message to ring out clearer every time. The song admits to her own self-hatred before turning it on the listener and reminding them to ‘stay out of my closet if your own is full of trash. Contains Parton's Monument era recording of "Everything's Beautiful (In Its Own Way)" and alternate versions of "I'm Not Worth the Tears", "Why, Why, Why", "The Giving and the Taking", and "I Don't Want You Around Me Anymore".

The third single, "Bygones", featuring Rob Halford with guests Nikki Sixx and John 5, was released the following day. Cover Notes: Global icon and recent Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Dolly Parton, has joined forces with some of Rock music's most legendary artists along with today's biggest stars for her first-ever Rock album, 'Rockstar'.Trio arrived in 1987; sold more than four million copies; won two Grammy Awards; and topped the country album chart for five consecutive weeks.
