About this deal

Evan remained on call 24/7 for the unfortunates, awaiting a 1-855-2-NOWHERE call on his high tech, untraceable, and indestructible RoamZone phone. Evan thought he was ready to lead an ordinary life—whatever that was—without the prospect of death lurking around the corner. But was he? Evan is trying to seize the day! He has finally been given the chance to live a normal life, after retiring the “NOWHEREMAN” hotline and receiving a pardon from the powers that be. Thus, I was not too surprised that early in my listening, "#7, Dark Horse" sounded like it might not make the 5-Stars grade and that proved to be the case.

Prodigal Son is further proof that Gregg Hurwitz has cornered the market on first-rate thrillers." -- NY Journal of Books

In accordance with his deal, Evan stops answering the RoamZone phone. However one caller is very persistent, phoning again and again. When Evan finally responds, the caller claims to be his mother, who gave him up as an infant. The woman, whose name is Veronica LeGrande, has a mission for Evan. And as you probably guessed, retirement isn’t in his short term plan. And now, as he knew it would, the phone is ringing once again. And this time it’s as personal as it can get. Evan asks Joey to oversee his apartment's renovations while he's gone, and in one of the book's lighter moments, Evan comes home to find a disco ball and Velcro jumping wall installed in his living room. Joey and Peter - the 9-year-old son of Evan's neighbor Mia Hall - are in Velcro suits, throwing themselves against the jumping wall....much to Evan's dismay.

As usual, the writing in this story is excellent. It draws you in right away and the story just keeps you engaged and needing to know what will happen the whole time. This installment had a few truly unexpected surprises in store that I did not see coming at all. Orphan X' Books to Get TV Series Adaptation by Makeready & Justin Lin". 7 June 2018 . Retrieved 2019-01-25. Oh, and there was so much gory violence, it felt like I was wading knee-deep through blood. I haven't felt like that since Stuart MacBride's Cold Granite. This was an intense and fast read for me. Thank goodness there was Joey to help break the tension. The science and the weapons information are almost more than up to date, and make for fascinating games of real or not real for readers. Just the other day I saw an article about dragonfly drones-but not ones with ethical decision making capabilities. Here is my petty little question. With all that great information available wouldn’t someone catch that poinsettia’s don’t have a scent? Maybe that booboo didn’t make it to the final version of the book. So clear a weekend because you’re not going to be doing much once you grab this book. But be prepared as it’s extremely detailed and graphic in many areas. But that’s just who The Nowhere Man is.

He doesn’t get much of a chance to adjust to civilian life, if you will, when he’s stunned by a new and startling revelation. Although Evan’s Nowhere Man job is complete, the story ends with some ambiguity and a definite sense of foreboding for our hero…
