Previous studies have suggested that music is a powerful means for enhancing children's holistic development in both musical and nonmusical contexts. These highly social interactions shape infant music perception and may also influence social cognition and behavior. Using data collected through the Growing Up in New Zealand longitudinal study, we explore the early musical experiences of approximately 6,800 infants and toddlers.

Neurocognitive and genetic approaches have made progress in understanding language-music interaction in the adult brain. However, performance on the synthesized materials was correlated with performance on the original materials. Overall, we show that the musical dwell time method is child-friendly and can be used to investigate various aspects of young children’s musical understanding, including phrase grouping and harmonic knowledge. Spontaneous singing with parents also occurred frequently (Mehr, 2014;Young, 2008), making music and using instruments was less likely to occur.Previous studies of cue utilization have studied the performances of expert or highly trained musicians, limiting the generalizability of the results. From about 9 months of age, Western infants experience music from new technologies as well as from interpersonal interactions (Young, 2008). This paper outlines the positive role music may have in the home lives of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their families.Moving in time with others-interpersonal synchrony-can direct infants' social preferences and prosocial behavior. Studies of infants, preschool children, and middle childhood children (6-11) will be included as well as a neural study. PCA analysis revealed 4 components of musical abilities and behaviors in under-3-year-olds: Musical Communication, Enthusiasm and Motivation, Adaptive Expressiveness, and Musical Abilities as traditionally defined. In this paper, after first reviewing the limitations of traditional developmental approaches to understanding language-music interaction, we describe how a developmental-ecological approach can not only inform developmental theories of language-music learning, but also address challenges inherent to neurocognitive and genetic approaches. Future work could investigate whether expertise is implicated in the expression of more complex emotions and/or in the expression of more complex musical structures, as well as explore the role of emotional intelligence and informal musical experiences in expressive performance.The majority of children under the age of 5 appear to show spontaneous enjoyment of singing, being exposed to music and interacting with musical instruments, but whether variations in engaging in such activities in the home could contribute to developmental outcomes is still largely unknown. Study recommends that mothers should encourage the habit of co-viewing, limit the screen time and set some rules for watching animated mother goose songs for getting better results. Reasons for attending MELPs were a high value for music, belief that music supports child development, enriched family relationships, and social support. Using this approach, we surveyed 174 German adults, asking about their view and conceptions regarding behaviors that characterize a musical child under 3 years.
