About this deal

Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. Palate: Medium body, not quite syrupy. A moderate tongue burn is followed by densely sweet honey, fondant, and buttercream frosting. Rosewater, again, with pistachio and nougat. Despite all the sugary notes, it is not cloying. VANILLA, almost buttery. Cream. Sour cream. Pistachio ice cream. A touch of Bearnaise sauce: that would be chervil, tarragon, and I would also say shallot onions - that floral kind of scent you get from those. Violets, rose petals, think Barbaresco wine, or a Merlot. Almonds. Garlic bread. Tokaji or even Fino Sherry - a slight touch of that refreshing yeastiness (which fades soon after you've poured a dram).

Still sweet, with a reprise of some of the floral notes from the palate (nice to see those come full-circle). Fades slowly with pear pastilles, bubblegum, and no bitterness at all.In a remarkable achievement, Glencadam 15 Years Old earned an exceptional score of 98 points out of 100 at the 2022 International Wine & Spirits Competition. Bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, with its natural color and without chill filtration, this whisky exemplifies their unwavering dedication to quality and authenticity. Nose: Creamy and inviting with aromas of bread and butter pudding, sugared almond and tangy marmalade. There is a nice oiliness combined with vanilla from the off. Sweetness from icing sugar and a touch of white pepper. This develops into a harmonious apple pastry with vanilla custard. Over time the nose becomes very malty, again sweet, with barley juice. This is tempered with spicy dry ginger notes, a herbal edge and fleeting notes of sweeties like cherry lips and kola cubes.

Let me be clear from the off, I am not referring to myself here. I know that there is little chance anyone would pay much heed to my opinions and, honestly, that’s fine. I’ve no claim, nor desire, to be any sort of tastemaker! I have my own views, of course, but I’ve tried fewer whiskies than many folks and have next to no experience of the vaunted classics; Brora, Port Ellen, old-skool Laphroaig and the like. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. I previously reviewed the 10-year, which I found middling, and the 13-year which I liked despite the price. Glencadam’s 15 year-old expression, like most of its releases, is aged exclusively in ex-bourbon casks to retain the distillery character. The whisky is not chill-filtered and has no added coloring, and is bottled (now) at 46% ABV. A good chewy texture. There is toffee sweetness, alongside the fruitiness and cereal from the nose. It has nice complexity with that slight herbal edge again, menthol and perhaps oregano? There is also a touch of sour cherry. The finish lingers nicely with some slightly stale spice and muted vanilla.
