Electronic maraca has a light-up dome that flashes in a variety of colours and plays maraca sound effects. Each item on the table does something different, the piano teaches colours, the trombone teaches numbers, the spinning maraca plays the alphabet and so on. The music mode of the Leapfrog Learn and Groove Activity Station features real instrument sounds and various musical styles.

If you imagine the way a baby sits, with their legs and feet out in front of them, if you then put the table down they can’t reach (well when Amelia was 6 months old she couldn’t). The activity station is for little ones who can hold their heads upright unassisted - so around four months old and until they can walk. At five months he is still not able to twist the seat 360 degrees himself but sure he will be able to soon.

It's quite easy to put together out of the box, and you can fold it fairly flat for storage if you need to, although to be honest I don't bother because we use it regularly. Children learn about music and tempo as they coordinate gross motor movements into a consistent rhythm.

She does loves the microphone and drives us crazy with making it sing all the time, but it helps get her started in the right mood.

Choose between music mode that introduces songs and sounds of instruments, and a learning mode that teaches shapes, colours and more. I purchased this activity centre for my 5 1/2 month old son after he had an absolute blast on a different brand's activity centre at his grandparents house. It can be used with or without the legs, so can function either as a musical pad or a musical table.
