About this deal

I believe there is a ghost, I named her Miss Haint…she has never spoken to me, she walks the floors and they creak… she spends most of her time in the operating room where many died most cried and maybe that included her. Once I said “hello Miss Haint… she scurried up the steps.” We do not have a blue porch roof “YET”. In the 2019 Netflix documentary " ReMastered: Devil at the Crossroads - A Robert Johnson Story" it's suggested that the origination of blues guitar legend Robert Johnson's story of selling his soul to the devil at a crossroads may have morphed from his habit of practicing in a graveyard. According to the documentary, Johnson (a very mediocre guitarist at the time) sought help from Ike Zimmerman who was known as one of the best guitarists in Mississippi. Zimmerman instructed Johnson to practice in the graveyard where no one would complain about his terrible noise, and to sit on a gravestone and let the haints teach him how to play. Whatever Johnson did, it worked! The word ‘Haints’ in the 1941 movie King of the Zombies

Slamming doors, heavy footsteps and menacing shadows are part and parcel of a ghost hunt in Gloucester’s Littledean Jail. Known as the Alcatraz of the Forest, the controversial correction house has been used as a courthouse, police station and prison during its 225 year history and therefore infamy exudes upon visiting. According to Horrible Histories author Terry Deary, Stratford-Upon-Avon is home to the most haunted building in England, the Fallstaff. The haunted building which now houses the Tudor World Museum, has a very spooky history and the Most Haunted television team experienced spine chills when visiting. Haints are restless spirits of the dead who, for whatever reason, have not moved on from their physical world,' says (Lori) Sawaya. Sorry for the long winded story, but “Haints” do get my attention. I’ve never encountered one in all of my years, but still keeping an open mind.The 1941 movie King of the Zombies contains several mentions of the word “haints.” It’s not a great movie, nor is it really about ghosts, but it was interesting to hear the words “haints” and “hainted” used in the dialogue. Home / News / Haints: Ghosts and evil spirits from the old south Haints: Ghosts and evil spirits from the old south I’ve said HAINT all my life and never even thought about if it was a real word or not. I said to a friend today that I looked like a “HAINT!” She called in her husband whose mother always talked about HAINTS. They had looked it up and discovered it was indeed a real word. I’ve been reading these articles and laughing a lot at us southerners. My Mama was from Southeastern NC and my Daddy from Boone NC. It’s fun to know the word would be used in both areas. It’s not as bad as BLOODY BONES and RAWHEAD that my Daddy would threaten to call up from the woods “IF Y’ALL DONT GO TO SLEEP!”

The old Spanish fort Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, the oldest and possibly most haunted city in America. Buy a fine art print. I hunted with my Uncle Ed that day, my father took Duke and went to Faison to hunt with one of his old friends. That evening. they wanted to coon hunt, I passed on hunting that night. I was the one that drove to Mt. Olive. The statuesque Sudeley Castle is a wonder to marvel at; playing an integral part in English history for over 100 years, it is easy to while an afternoon away in the castle’s many exhibits and glorious gardens. In a beautiful rural setting beside the River Windrush lie the picturesque ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a former 15th century Oxfordshire manor house. Built in the 1430s, after several changes of hands the hall was abandoned and eventually demolished in the 18th century, leaving the remains that stand today. We recommend visiting The Littledean Jail to peruse the fascinating Crime Through Time Collection and the huge array of bonkers memorabilia that can be found there.

Mystery lies behind the pretty Regency facades of Cheltenham, and the town is home to many unexplained supernatural events including one of the most documented and highly researched cases in British paranormal history: The Morton Case.

It has been claimed that the Inn is haunted by the ghosts of ex-landlord Bill Claver’s wife and child. Guests have heard strange noises in the hotel, and on occasion there have been sightings of two ghostly apparitions. The Old Bell Hotel can be found in the Cotswolds market town of Malmesbury. Being one of England’s oldest hotel, there is little wonder that the hotel has a rich history with guests spending the night since 1220.

The word "haint" is also used outside the low country, in other parts of the south, with slightly different aspects from region to region. Gloucester’s former prison has a long history of death, executions and burials, and the cells have held some of the country’s most notorious criminals. Haint blue, which can also be found on door and window frames as well as porch ceilings, is intended to protect the homeowner from being 'taken' or influenced by haints. It is said to protect the house and the occupants of the house from evil."
