During the set-up stages, each smart TRV is paired with the thermostat and given a name (sitting room, bedroom, office etc). With a direct connection to the boiler they enable you to control the on/off times and temperatures of individual rooms via the intuitive app, even with no internet connection while at home.

Also, a wall stat is more convenient to do a quick temp change in a main area without having to get your phone out. Some rooms (that aren't being used) have the temp of the smart TRV set to 14 so they are effectively "off" all the time.I've just bought a Drayton Multizone Smart Thermostat and 5 of their smart TRVs and looking for advice on the best way to set things up so had a few questions. This valve simply replaces your current radiator valve with super easy installation (either vertical or horizontal) and will allow you to control the heat of the room from your phone or even just by asking Alexa. Even if you have the oldest sort of radiator valves, the ones you turn manually that have little numbers on them that go from ‘Off’ up to ‘Max’, you can turn up and down the heat without having to crouch down and fiddle about.

One or two people on my YouTube community platform have said they wish it communicated over wifi, but Drayton kept communication off wifi deliberately because if your wifi goes down, the system keeps functioning. These wiser items are small, compact, the graphics/fonts are quite similar to ikea’s, the branding is unobtrusive (I’d be happier without it tbh) I don’t like obviously modern additions to my home which is pretty retro but these are ok sitting next to mid century items. People say you can get much cheaper smart plugs elsewhere which you can, but as I’ve just said these are also range extenders.

Evohome - even though it doesn’t have insights and the user interface is getting a bit dated (according to Anthoine). Now the lack of a convenient user interface is a criticism you sometimes hear about the Drayton Wiser system, which is of course app based. Is there some sort of online idiot guide anywhere, something that treats you like a child in explaining how this f king thing works?
