About this deal

While Apple users get the full advantage of playback and volume controls, Android users can only pause and play. They look nearly identical to the company’s wired P5 on-ear headphones and with vaguely retro styling including chromed rods and black leather ear pads. Treble isolation is good, but as expected, the passive isolation only becomes effective past 400HZ and does not really block any low-bass frequencies. There is no near-field communications (NFC) built into the headphones, so they have to be manually paired via Bluetooth to a smartphone. Although I could tell some of you readers now would probably run away after reading my comfort section, I believe that some of u are actually still reading down, so here goes.

The main difference however, this headphone has all of its controls on the right earcup, with the left earcup featuring a hole which the cables run through if you wish to use it in wired mode. In other words, would that nice mic **only** work in wired mode with an analog splitter, in BT mode I'd be forced to use the built-in-cup mic? The Award-winning Beyerdynamic T51is are the P5s’ most pressing concern; we can’t wait for a group test involving both of them (and the much-loved Sennheiser Momentums, too). They sound a little bit closed due to their small ear cup design, but they reproduce the bass, mids, and treble frequencies quite well. Sure, there's a little muffling of ambient sound because you're placing the earpads on your ears, but virtually every headphone pair on earth offers this, and it's not very significant. Helped along by the compliant fitment mechanism of the P5, the pads spread pressure very evenly across the ear and remain comfortable for many hours.

In addition to the fold-flat design, short cord, 1/8-inch miniplug, and iPhone mic/remote module, the P5 is easy to drive: Unlike many full-size headphones, which require more juice to sound their best than an iPod or computer headphone jack can provide, the P5 was engineered to sound great directly out of a portable source. One of the unique aspects of the P5 is that despite being a set of full-size, high-end headphones, the P5 is aimed squarely at portable use.

The P5s have no negatives and a lot of positives: stylish looks, comfortable fit, good isolation and most of all, superb sound quality. What we often hear is just the raspy top notes of the synth hit, or an overly exaggerated sub-bass presence that upsets the balance of the mix. Truth be told, the P5 does have slightly better clarity and generally sounds smoother, leaner, and tighter than the MS400 but lacks the fullness of the Phiaton’s bass and the warm lushness of its midrange. Since smartphone controls are integrated as part of Bluetooth wireless functionality, you no longer need a cable with in-line remote/mic, thus only an audio cable was included (3.

The headphone market is saturated with plastic-based design, but the stylish P5s feel special in every way. This design, along with a tiny cable grip near the bottom of the earpiece, keeps the cable from putting strain on the connector, even if the cable gets pulled or snagged during use.B and W P5 Wireless brings you a remarkably natural sound and a luxuriously comfortable fit that makes longer listening sessions a pleasure. This type of discomfort is common with on-ear headphones, and my experience with the P5 Series 2 wasn't anything out of the ordinary.
