About this deal

The second group is people who refuse to accept the relative amount of war deaths as a better measurement than absolute deaths. The lighting panels were still intact, currently in the shade of twilight blue that Carissa liked when she was sleeping. He points out that in medieval Europe, there was an art form to torture and people took pleasure in public mutilations.

My struggle with this book is largely based on my reading preference so keep in mind that if you love over the top stories, you may enjoy this one more than me. Declines in violence are caused by political, economic, and ideological conditions that take hold in particular cultures at particular times. Her mom is obsessed with the idea that thin equals beautiful, thin equals successful, thin equals the way to get what you want.

If you have to have your plane jane of a protagonist bully some girl whose heavier than her than maybe you need a new plot and a new character because NOBODY like a bully. All characters lacked depth and I think the cover is very misleading considering how little the book really addresses dieting/ED. But here’s really why you should read it: philosophy, in general, is incredibly dense and boring, and this is perhaps the only book I’ve ever seen that applies the same creative genius required to understand deep philosophical concepts to the actual writing and explication of those concepts. Carmen and her school friends were bullies, Carmen's mother was straight up damaging/abusive to her daughter, her Nana and Lisa didn't seem like they really addressed Carmen's weight loss until the very end.

Learn about the idea that transformed a depressed deadbeat into one of the most important philosophers who ever lived. It would be fine to have someone think of themselves as fat and not be, which is what I assume the author was trying for here.

Up and down she goes, content with the sometimes chewy food her reality fabricator spits out, as long as it means she doesn’t have to speak to another living person. The characters and writing are fantastic as well -- everyone has strong motivations and unique behaviour and it's a charming, charming read. If nothing else, this is veering very strongly on child neglect and it makes me too angry to keep on reading.Come here for the exuberance of the storytelling, not for the in-depth explorations of real science. The book is a historical fiction based on Napoleon’s fateful (and failed) attempt to invade Russia in 1812. It was “gritty” in the grand tradition of unsentimental books about British teenagers having a bad time. Readers will love it as much for the outlandish ideas as for the narrative complexity and sense of fun. His two big novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina are both pretty much always in the top 3 of any “best books ever written” list.
