If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. The finish flips the sweet and woody-earthy-spicy aspects of the whisky end over end, becoming far less sweet on the way down than the whisky was while sitting on your palate. It’s a nice capstone for the overall experience and really adds to it. Final Thoughts: The Old Pulteney 15 year old whisky definitely hits you right away with the spiciness. As the distillery states, this is a good balance of the spicy and the sweet. The spices hit you hard, but then the sweetness lingers on your tongue. This is a very unique flavor whiskey. Palate: Very strong taste of spices when it hits your tongue. But there is a lingering sweetness to it, almost a dark chocolate and toffee hint. A good solid basic malt. The Old Pulteney 12 is the kind of whisky that’s easy to drink, easy to mix and easy on the wallet. I want a little more complexity in my daily drinkers, but this is something that’s nice and easy to sip on and I’m really digging it for what it is. Sweet malty fruity aroma and a fruity, malty, spicy flavor make for a nice combo… really not a bad little malt. Final Thoughts: While definitely not as smooth as the Huddart, Old Pulteney’s 12 year old single malt Scotch whiskey is wonderful and can definitely stand on its own, apart from the Huddart. The sea air brininess is even more apparent in this offering. They didn’t have the life, the character or the richness of OP’s age-stated whiskies. The OP Navigator was piss-poor compared to the standard Old Pulteney 12 years and the OP Clipper was a weak shade next to the always amazing Old Pulteney 17. Nose: A very nice subtle smokiness, with slight hints of toffee, and honey, with a glimmer of green apple. Buttery fruit like banana and apricot move out with a light honey, toffee and orange zest. A sweet malty character rides along with a bit of spice and a touch of a metallic alkalinity. Disputes that cannot be settled over multiple drams of whisky shall be solely submitted to the court of Amsterdam, The Netherlands unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise. Has an ok balance with nothing too distracting happening. A medium body and a smooth uneventful texture.

Banana malted milkshake, honey graham, vanilla frosting, nuts and a light bit of baking spice and lemon peel.B and B-: Good and above average. The best of the mass market whiskeys fit in this category, as do the bulk of the premium brands. A B- is three stars. Palate: Very nice flavor of smoky chocolate, with a immediate bite of spice, with a hint of fruit flavor, almost like dried dates. A very unique flavor, with the added brininess that seems to be a trademark of this distillery. Unfortunately, the OP 17 has been discontinued (and the OP 21 followed soon after), but in its place, this Old Pulteney 15 Years arrived. I’m 99% sure this will beat out either of the NAS attempts listed above, so I’ll be comparing it to the whisky it replaced. Final Thoughts: Old Pulteney Huddart is a wonderfully smooth Scotch whisky. The flavors are light and goes down smoother than almost any other whisky I have had. This would be a perfect whisky to offer someone who has never had whiskey, or someone who has been on the fence about whiskey. The touch of briny flavor from the sea air adds a perfect touch that you won’t find in hardly any other whiskies.

Awards for Old Pulteney 18 Year Old

Woah. The aroma does NOT give you much insight into the palate of this Old Pulteney 15. It’s so much richer and fuller. Nose: A very sweet smelling whiskey. Definitely some fruity hints to it, with only a slight hint of smokiness.
