About this deal

So, will Sony London make a Morpheus launch title? "Who can tell? It would be great to do that. We'll see," was Ranyard's coy response.

We always wanted to do PS4," Ranyard continued. "We decided not to go for [the PS4's] launch because we felt it would be better this year, which is partly to do with the 10-year anniversary. The first Christmas of a console's life is about cool games and SingStar is a bit different. So we felt this Christmas was the perfect storm for SingStar." to be fair, the ps3 isn't compatible with ps2 discs now, but they patched Singstar so you can use the ps2 discs. A lot of AR techniques translate to VR. It's not a leap. It's a step. So from a studio perspective it makes sense. But it's a different audience. We're doing a lot of tech demos for Morpheus. We'll see what happens. The studio is really excited though because it's just so hot." Accompanying this change is a new scoring system that lifts the previous 10,000 point cap per song. Now, three million points is considered peak. "It's gone from a Pac-Man score to a pinball score," Sony London studio director Dave Ranyard told Eurogamer at a recent event. The new hook is that you can use your phone as a microphone. You can also use the normal Singstar mics as well. Singstar has had a complete interface overhaul, both in the store and the program itself.

The one thing that concerns me is that they are apparently scrapping the different difficulty levels (Easy, Medium and Hard) and changing the scoring system. Of course not everyone at Sony London is working on SingStar, or even Project Morpheus. Others are working on other, secret projects, although Ranyard won't say what. We’re really pleased to announce that SingStar will be coming to PS4 later this year! Not only that but we will be launching a free SingStar app that will transform your smartphone into a microphone. That’s right, no more mics required! Personally I love Singstar (so much that I got the platinum trophy) and cannot wait for this, the approphone will open the game up to a whole new audience - I can see other party games such as Buzz using the same idea to great effect in the future. Lots of other small improvements are listed on the PS blog:

Octane I'm actually a pretty big fan of PlayLink as an idea, and I'm looking forward to Hidden Agenda as it's an excellent concept for a game. This is probably the only game on PlayLink that I wouldn't have bought. I have seen the wireless singstar mics advertised as working on PS4, but this is the second pair that I bought with the same issue. Can't say I actually like the review. Too short and the reasons for its low score don't make much sense to me. Sounds a lot like someone not interested in karaoke games reviewing a karaoke game.Gamer Network Limited, Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN, United Kingdom, registered under company number 03882481. The user interface has been revamped to make it easier for players to navigate and easier for Sony London Studio to update. It's built using HTML5, so the developer can make changes on the fly without having to go through Sony's quality assurance department. Because of this, Sony London can bubble content up to the front of the UI at a whim, perhaps pointing to artists who are on tour, for example.
