About this deal

I must admit, it did take a little time for my cats to adjust to their new entrance. Cats can be quite particular, as I’m sure many cat owners can attest to. But with a bit of patience and encouragement, they eventually grew comfortable with it. Now they come and go as they please, like they own the place. It’s as if they have their own little VIP access. As a cat owner, I’ve recently installed the Sure Petcare SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap in my home, and I am truly impressed. The cat flap itself is designed to prevent intruder animals from entering while still allowing my cats to come and go with ease, thanks to the microchip recognition feature. I also appreciate that it works with all common microchips and RFID collar tags, making it flexible and secure for different cats. Additionally, its insulated design ensures that intruder animals are kept out of the house. The SureFlap is also the smallest option, making it perfect for smaller cats. It has an energy-efficient design and is made from durable materials, ensuring a long-lasting product. Overall, the Sure Petcare SureFlap appears to be the best choice among the four options for those looking for a high-quality microchip cat flap.

The Cat Mate Microchip Cat Flap is very easy to program and up to 30 cats can be registered. For cats without an implanted microchip, a unique Cat Mate I.D. The disc can be attached to your cat's collar (available separately). In the end, the decision came down to my preferences and requirements. I opted for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap since it offered selective entry and compatibility with all common microchips, which was perfect for my multi-pet home. This cat flap requires 4 AA batteries. These should easily last 6 months before they require replacing and have been known to last as long as 12 months with just one cat using it.

CatMate

You will need a glass adapter to install its version into double glazing. Or to go through walls you will need tunnels

There is, however, one way an intruder cat may be able to get in: by tailgating. This is rather unavoidable because a neighborhood cat can easily get up close to your feline's bottom and seize the opportunity to enter while the flap is still fully open. Another animal could also place a sneaky paw within an open door to prevent it from closing again. Those of us who are already servants to our feline overlords might be laughing at the idea that you can train a cat to do anything. However, there are some simple tips you can try to make your cat use a new cat flap with ease. If you are comfortable with DIY and have appropriate tools then you should be able to install it yourself by following the instructions in the video below. The Cat Mate door is battery-powered and will give approximately 12 months of operation from 4 x AA batteries (not included). It’s a really simple cat flap to programme, with just the push of a button and an LED indicator that flashes to let you know the microchip has been registered. You will need four AA batteries to power the cat flap, but users report that these last for around a year, making the Cat Mate even better value. Despite these minor cons, I still firmly believe that the Cat Mate Elite Microchip Cat Flap is a fantastic investment for any cat owner in search of a reliable and programmable cat flap. It offers unparalleled ease of use and provides great peace of mind. Entry operated by your cat's implanted microchip - keeps stray pets out. Compatible with 9, 10 and 15-digit microchips This high tech cat flap is one of the bigger cat flaps available, measuring 246mm x 197mm total. It should be able to easily cater for even the most well built of cats and small dogs could also make use of it. However, you won’t get all these features without the hub, and this needs to be plugged into your router with an Ethernet cable as well as into the mains. You will also need four C cell batteries, which you should expect to last a maximum of six months.

One of the standout features of this cat flap is its programmable timer function, which has been a game changer for me. It’s particularly useful when I’m away from home and don’t want to constantly worry about my cat’s access to the great outdoors. The convenience it offers is simply brilliant. One of the features is night mode, this works by detecting the light levels so that when it gets dark it allows in only access for your cat, then, when the light comes up it will allow your cat to go outside. Either way it is always a good idea to have a look at how each cat flap is installed and make a decision regarding whether you have the tools and DIY skills necessary to install it or whether or not you will need to consult a professional.Microchipping your cat by inserting a tiny chip into your pet is one of the easiest ways to keep it safe. The chip can then be read by a portable scanner, should your cat ever go missing and end up at a vet practice. It’s not harmful to the cat and takes very little time. In addition, there is an innovative, easy-to-view LED-display that allows you to set specific times for your cat to come in and out. The panel also displays location indicators for up to 3 selected cats so you can see whether your cat is currently at home or out and about. You can also see the last time that your cat passed through the cat flap. The cat flap is draught- and weatherproof, thanks to its stable, high-quality polymer and brush-sealed flap. You will need a glass adapter to install its version into double glazing. Or to go through walls, you will need tunnels The 360 has been developed to offer the ultimate solution for selective entry control, operated by your cat's unique implanted identification microchip.

If you’re not keen on using an app with your cat flap, and think connecting it via Wi-Fi is a little over-the-top for your needs, the Cat Mate Elite Microchip Cat Flap with Timer Control offers you a little bit of extra information about your cats, but isn’t overwhelmingly hi-tech. In short, it bridges the gap between a standard microchip cat flap and one of the all-singing, all-dancing models. The Cat Mate Microchip 360 Cat Flap by Pet Mate is a great-looking highly functional cat flap which works with any 15, 9 or 6 digit microchip codes as well as with an I.D disc if required. If you’re looking for a no-frills microchip cat flap from a trusted brand that gets the job done, the SureFlap Microchip may be for you. Like all microchip models, it only lets your pets in and out, while preventing intruders from stealing food or messing up your home. Of course, your pet will need to be microchipped – and the cat flap works with any of them – or wear a SureFlap RFID collar tag, which costs extra. It is suitable for all door types from wood to metal. It can also be fitted in glass and through walls, but it will require the 361 adaptor kit for wall and glass installations, this can be bought separately. Do make sure that your cat’s microchip is one that’s recognised by the cat flap you choose. Some older microchips and foreign chips may not work with a microchip cat flap. Where should I install my cat flap? The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap Connect is without a doubt the market leader when it comes to smart cat flap technology (and it’s price reflects that!).
