About this deal

Windows Media Player won’t even attempt to play it and VCL Media player won’t play it, just keeps giving errors. Geez, not a month goes by that I’m not adding to my blu and dvd collection. Have been buying 4K UHD disks when a deal happens, as I have a player but not a TV capable of displaying, as a way of future-proofing on important films that I know I’ll always revisit and I think will benefit from the visual upgrade. The main draw to this set is the 4K picture quality as well as the advantage of HDR (or, if it’s your thing it’s also a steelbook). And while it’s odd to see a Star Trek television series presented in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, but here we are. And it looks splendid. Everything about this excels be it the level of detail, the colors, the overall ambiance and everything in between. We can see the coarse hairs in Christopher Pike’s mane of hair, the textures in the suits and the crisp displays of the computers. It might be running on the small screen, but I’d put the way this looks up there with any feature-length film. Given the color palette used during the series and added benefit of HDR, if you want to see the show in its best-looking format then look no further. Audio: How’s it sound? Compared to a regular high-definition presentation on Paramount+, the Blu-ray release of Strange New Worlds is going to be your best way to get the best visual experience watching the series, from the exploratory opening title sequence to the many space adventures Captain Pike’s crew experienced over the ten-episode season. I wish I could use a new TV as a writing business office expense, but there’s no way to really explain why a good sized set would never fit in what passes for my office (actually the tiny dining room in a small 1br apt.) I really never figured out how to game the system for tax writeoffs, my business expenses are always very tiny (never into four figures except in a decade when I buy a new computer), mostly just books and movies that are useful references and research tools.

But it is more about how the toolset is wielded than the tools themelves, at least when dealing on these high-end levels. I talked with one of the PICARD cinematographers last night and he was quite emphatic on saying the choice of lens was far more important than the choice of camera, and that throwing all this stuff about 4K and 8K around just confuses the issue when it comes to what is important when making calls that serve visual storytelling. Hemmer and Uhura down in Peregrine’s engineering see a baby Gorn feeding on entrails, who turns towards them and Hemmer takes the venom that was heading for Uhura.

By comparison, I only own maybe a dozen films and series on digital, mainly because I was having trouble finding them cheap and used on disk or they just plain weren’t available on disk, but I hate having to rely on that virtual streaming approach, given that somebody could just decide to alter the content at some point. There are five episodes that have deleted or extended scenes, found on the disc with the corresponding episode. By far the most interesting are from episode 109 “All Those Who Wander,” with quite a bit ending up by the wayside, including a couple of scenes that I think should have been left in. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that during my lifetime, it’s likely there’ll be some sort of Star Trek and/or Star Wars movie or television series. That’s a bold statement, but given that Star Trek is now 50+ years old, I think the odds are good that it might happen. Nevertheless, it’s “now” and we’ve got Star Trek: Strange New Worlds– a spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery and also serving as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. Given that my favorite Star Trek show was The Next Generation, it’s also been a sour spot for me as no Star Trek series has come even close to comparing with that. That’s just me, of course. There have been no shortage of choices…we’ve had Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Discovery and Picard. Suffice it to say, if you’re a Trekkie – there’s got to be a show for you. above, filling the top third of the panel. The rear panel features the main characters in silhouette on an alien landscape with the same color scheme; it's

I’m not saying it can’t work, just that you are making a sacrifice. Roger Deakins shot SKYFALL on Alexa even though he knew there’d be a 4K finish. But that’s Deakins. He also told me he refused to use the Imax codec for that particlar release version, so there’s something to be said for individual taste over a massmind solution. single horse and rider center facing towards the expanse, with a large planet hovering in the heavens on the left and a smaller one on the right. The The show's special effects and production design are top-notch, creating a visually stunning and immersive viewing experience. The writing is strong, with well-crafted storylines that keep you on the edge of your seat. Exploring New Worlds– Fans will explore the storylines and characters that bring Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to life with writers, cast and crew.

Coming May 16, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 will be arriving in a special 4K Blu-ray Steelbook edition, which will contain all 10 episodes of 2022’s adventures in the Ultra HD format. The 4K Steelbook will not contain standard Blu-ray discs, so if you’re looking to acquire both formats, you’ll need to shop twice. For more about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 1 4K and the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 1 4K Blu-ray release, see Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 1 4K Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on June 2, 2023 where this Blu-ray release scored 4.5 out of 5. A reminder to fans who want to see more Trek on disc: If this title sells well, Paramount will be more inclined to release more of the new Star Trek series in 4K. Discovery season 4 was also shot in 4K and HDR, and the excitement around Picard season 3 also makes it a good bet to get the 4K HDR treatment when comes out on disc later this year.
