About this deal

A near perfect clone of the EHX Micro POG for one third the price. It's built well and sounds excellent, so if you just need an inexpensive octave pedal or can forgo the "name brand" aspect of owning a POG, this is the one to get. You want a pedal that will last you. You may want a pedal that you can directly smash your bass into at the end of your show and still use it at your next show the following night. The Electro-Harmonix Micro POG is a simple pedal with a simple effect. To be honest I didn’t really think that I would find many uses for this effect in my playing but after experimenting with it and using it in combination with other pedals, I realized the POG’s potential. It’s an incredibly useful and versatile effect that can be used in a wide range of styles and situations. Whenever I feel like I’m running out of ideas or feel low on creativity, now I can tweak the three knobs and straight away come up with something new. When comparing the Electro Harmonix Nano POG vs Micro POG, this is the one point where they stand apart. The Micro POG can be run either through the power supply (included) or with a 9V battery. This means it is more portable, though of course there is a limit to how long you can use the pedal before changing the battery. It uses four re-issued MN3005 BBD analogue delay chips paired with a microcontroller to create something unique – a pitch-shifted analogue delay. Along with tap divisions, it also has patterns, ramping, glissando and all the DIP-switch controlled options you could possibly desire via the top panel.

As a general rule, polyphonic pitch shifter pedals that can accurately shift more than one note tend to be less glitchy but, again, your playing style and artistic goals are as relevant here as the tech 'under the hood' of the pedal. This really is a simple pedal and they couldn’t have made it easier to use. You simply adjust the three level knobs depending on what type of effect you’re after and that’s it. Let’s go through a few different scenarios to see how easily different sounds can be produced: 12 string guitar effect

On the other hand, if you want to conserve space on your pedalboard, the Nano POG is the best choice. There is a slight difference in the way it sounds ( seen in this comparison video ), but it may not be enough of a difference to compromise space. For some riffs, he used a wah while other sections he used delays and fuzz pedals while still retaining a basic bass tone. The Micro POG was the first pedal (after his tuner) in his rig so the bass tone was unaffected by other pedals.

The OC-5’s “vintage” mode is its analog/monophonic mode. Analog octave up is typically pretty distorted sounding (something to do with the overtones that produce the octave), but this is the cleanest octave up I’ve heard. It sounds great. I also noticed that the octave up sound starts at a lower range than what’s typical (usually only happens on higher notes). A+ Some people have allegedly received defective products or products that aren’t quite up to par. We can’t verify that, so keep an eye out. The Micro POG is still one of the best octave pedals on the market, mostly because Electro Harmonix knows what they’re doing. Years of experience have condensed into this one pedal, and it’s well worth a try. Verdict Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faultyThere are a lot of pitch based effects out there and I really feel this simple effect is worth its place on most guitarist’s pedalboards. It won’t suit every guitarist but if after reading the above examples you feel you could make use of the Micro POG, then it’s definitely worth the money. All of these options come in a very durable enclosure and a well-planned design. This pedal’s layout is simple enough to get a great tone right out of the box. With a little adjustment, the M288 Octave Deluxe is capable of pricing sounds for the most discerning players.

You have the option for two outputs from the Micro POG. One output bypasses the pedal and passes through your dry tone even when the pedal is activated and the other output sends out the effect. This means you could add the Micro POG to your signal chain and send it to a separate amp or effects chain without it affecting your main rig. I’ll go through this scenario later because it’s worth looking into. Ease of use An octave pedal is a fairly straight forward concept, which can get very complicated if you dive deep into the technical aspects of the effect. Essentially, an octave pedal creates a note that is in a different octave then the one that you’re playing, either higher or lower depending on what you decide. Then, on many octave pedals, you can choose how much you want to blend the octave that the pedal is making with the octave that you are playing. This octave pedal allows you to blend an octave below and octave above a given note, balancing the sounds with the responsive controls. A single input and two outs allow you to split the dry and wet signals. There are two outport channels, one for dry sound and another for the effect if you want to channel through different amps, which is a nice touch. The Aguilar Octamizer produces a beautifully natural sound that’s consistent and never too over-powering. Another useful new feature of the OC-5 is the octave-up effect, with can be used in both Vintage and Poly modes. You can crate octave-down effects for extended chord voicings, as well as unique solo tones, and even make your electric sound like a faux 12 string guitar. This pedal is a must-have addition to the board of any advanced player. This pedal’s versatility and extensive capabilities make it an excellent tool for those looking to dive into the more experimental end.

If you spend a little more money, you can get better sound quality or some better features. We think all of these pedals are some of the best in their price range, but if you need a certain level of quality or some extra feature, it might be worth it to drop a little extra. Reliability On the other hand, the Nano POG only draws about 25mA while it’s working, giving you more room to add more effects pedals to your chains. Dimensions Mixing in an octave lower with some overdrive and a wah is a great way to create a gnarly tone that feels incredible on simple riffs. I used the Original Crybaby wah ( read my review of the Crybaby here) and experimented with slightly mixing in an octave higher to add some extra harmonics and range. If you’re looking for a way to spice up your tone when using a wah, using the Micro POG to subtly (or not so subtly) enhance your tone is a great way to bring something new to your tone. No matter pedal effect, Boss engineers will design it to be versatile and functional. The OC-3 is a perfect example, as it delivers much more than you would usually expect from an octave pedal. This model represents a significant upgrade over the legendary OC-2 model and although it has been around for years, it is still one of the best units of this type on the market. The PitchFactor utilizes many of the tones from the H3000, but upgraded, digitally run, and in a compact stompbox. If you want the most tweakable and versatile octave/harmonizer pedal, then this is it.The pedal has a nice strong chassis and the three knobs feel very secure. Unlike the POG2 which has small sliders, I don’t feel like this one is going to cause any problems even after years of abuse. The Micro POG produces amazing sound, without the slight distortion that the Nano POG offers. It’s easy to use, and the solid construction is as durable as it is attractive. You’ll be able to tell which of your pedals is the Micro POG due to its distinctive red color. The controls on this pedal are easy to use and very precise, making it possible to find the exact sound you’re looking for.
