About this deal

Used books have different signs of use and might not include supplemental materials such as CDs, Dvds, Access Codes, charts or any other extra material. This is a very well put together lovely looking keepsake book that I think any kid interested in maps, geography and the world around them will love! As children, we both loved stumbling across a book too heavy to even lift, let alone open and read; a book full of facts and numbers; a book whose story you discovered through its ideas rather than its prose.

Informative and inspiring, the myriad activities in this book challenge the reader to discover something new and explore their imagination to draw, decorate and design every pull-out page. Opening with an original style of contents page, consisting of a world map with countries labelled with the pages where information can be found, the atlas is divided into eight sections, looking at countries within each continent plus the Arctic and Antarctica. It’s a beautifully illustrated picture book, which still has pride of place in his room now he’s a teenager. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. I've spent a lot of looking at the pages with my nephew aged 7 and he has been fascinated with the book. All used books might have various degrees of writing, highliting and wear and tear and possibly be an ex-library with the usual stickers and stamps. The few adults who have picked this up in my house and had a quick look through it have all said how good it is. Ideal for children from three onwards it isn't just a map book it is an introduction to the world and the illustrations could start many stories. What makes Maps so special, aside from its fantastic and unique illustrations and fun and quirky facts, is the sheer atmosphere it creates and the feeling of discovery you get from turning its pages.

I love books like this that that introduce geography and culture to children without them realising that they are actually learning! A feast for the eyes, with lavish drawings from the Mizielinskis, go on a journey and discover cities, rivers, mountains as well as cultural places of interest, iconic animals and personalities. May also contain light spine creasing or a few markings such as an owner's name, short gifter's inscription or light stamp. It's a celebration of the world, from its immense mountains to its tiny insects - and everything in between! This book would have been very welcome at my school last term when Iceland was included in the Year 1 topic of Around the World! From time to time, we would like to keep you up to date with news about Beyond the Stork and special offers.

Much more than an ordinary atlas, this book of maps is a visual feast for readers of all ages, with lavishly drawn illustrations from the incomparable Mizielinskis. This book is so informative, and generates so many conversations for learning about the world - Geography, Cultures, Language, Food, Animals, History, etc.

The amount of interesting information any child or adult can pick up from thumbing through this book is amazing in my opinon. I like the way that the European section travels southwards from Iceland, which means that countries such as Croatia and Romania are given equal space alongside the perhaps more familiar France and Spain.

The illustrations are fantastic and there is so much to see on each page, I especially like that every item is properly named whether it be a fish, fruit, tree or flower. It’s incredibly detailed but also kid friendly, but every adult we show is intrigued by this map as well!As someone else mentioned it it a bit cluttered, however one of the biggest disappointments for me was Ireland barely being referenced. There is a dearth of information about some of these places (publishers tend to concentrate on what they see as the 'main' countries), particularly for young children.
