About this deal

Our current kitchen doesn’t have an abundance of kitchen drawers. And the ones we do have are pretty small. Not only did our plastic bags and wraps not fit quite right, but I had other items that were far more appropriate for drawer storage (e.g., gadgets, utensils, etc). First, you’ll want to use a small dowel that is long enough to fit thru the holes in your plastic wrap box plus a little more. Then use some hooks to hold the ends of the dowels. This also works great for gift wrap!

The vast majority of my time of the project was spent figuring out the exact dimensions and placement of the compartments. Since I gave that to you, it shouldn’t take too long at all. But, I didn’t just mark directly on my wood. I first placed painter’s tape on the corners to help prevent the wood from tearout as I drill through. Now that it’s all marked, it’s time to cut them out… almost. I wanted rounded corners on my compartments and I’m going to use my drill to accomplish this. It has enough spots for all the various size bags and wraps we normally keep on hand, and it does so in just a few units (instead of a collection of many individual boxes). The organizer helps keep everything in place and organized. It also lets you throw away the branded cardboard storage boxes and have a cleaner and more cohesive look. Note: if your holes are a little rough, it’ll be easier to sand the inside of the holes you cut before assembly. Cardboard boxes are busy. By eliminating the excess color, text, and patterns, you reduce visual clutter which in turn helps everything look and feel more tidy. You don’t need any installation tool or much time to deal with this holder because it comes pre-assembled. Other places where you can mount this holder are the underside of your kitchen cabinets and inside a cabinet’s door. Don’t mount it in a damp place, though. 3. Wall-Mounted Ziploc Bag Organizer The remaining (3) compartments are each 6×2.5”. They are 1 1/8” from the bottom and 1.5” from either side. Between compartments, there is a 1.25” gap.

Before I start drilling, I want to mark exactly where to drill. I used a 3/8” drill bit, so I went ahead and marked 3/16” in from the corners of my compartments. To assemble, we’ll use wood glue and 1” nails. You’ll place each piece on top of the bottom and nail through the bottom and into the new piece. you can then shop around for the best organization solution that meets your budget, layout, and installation needs. Start with the items you have at home. If you have an empty tissue box lying around, you’re already sorted. Fold all your Ziploc bags, open the tissue box’s lid, and place them inside. Every time you need a Ziploc bag, pull one out, and off you go. Plastic bins and boxes are the perfect solutions for storing all of your foil and bags. Not only do they provide an easy and efficient way to store food, but they also can keep all your drawers organized. The full size pantry in our North Carolina rental has more space than we need for food storage, making it an ideal location for these other items! Step 3 – Research Organizer Options The brilliance containers are my absolute favorite for food and storage. I just love how crystal clear they are and they come in different sizes which would be great for organizing your drawers. Once my holes were drilled, I grabbed my multi-mark tool and connected the space between my holes. For the most part, things lined up with the lines that I previously drew. However, there were one or two spots where my holes did get a little of out alignment. If you don’t want to spend money on a new organizer, using an empty box of baby wipes is a smart idea. If you have one such container lying around, move your plastic bags into it and keep it in the kitchen drawer.

And of course, you can use pegboard shelves to hold your wrap and bags. Hang wraps under a kitchen shelf Insert your jigsaw into one of the holes that you drilled and connect the dots. Repeat this until all four compartments are cut out. STEP 3: ASSEMBLE USING GLUE AND NAILSDrawer dividers come in a variety of sizes and materials, so it’s easy to find one that will fit perfectly in any storage space. The adjustable design lets you customize it to suit your needs – just move the walls to adjust the width of each compartment. First, attach the sides to the bottom. The sides should be flush with the sides and top/bottom of the bottom piece. There are plenty of ways to organize Ziploc bags you can use to declutter your drawers and keep these helpful storage pouches handy. Whether you want a DIY method or need ready-made Ziploc bag organization ideas, let’s dive deeper and get you the solution that’s perfect for you! Another easy way to use the pegboard is to use binder clips to corral some plastic bags and hang them from a hook so they are handy to grab and go. Grab your top piece and start sketching out where you want to cut. Each of the compartments will be approximately 2.5” wide.

Once everything is marked, now it’s time to drill. Line the tip of your ⅜” drill bit up with one of the marks that you made, and drill on through. Now that everything is assembled, it’s time to finish it up! We first filled all of the nail holes using a stainable wood filler. Using an empty box of makeup or baby wipes will help you cut down on extra costs and keeps your kitchen decluttered as well. Since baby wipes often come in plastic containers, using them for organizing kitchen essentials is a good way of reusing them. 5. Ziploc DIY Organizer: Empty Tissue Box If you have multiple unopened Ziploc pouches, you need a more extensive metal organizer to categorize them. When you run out of Ziploc bags, take one box out of this organizer and refill your wall-mounted or countertop Ziploc bag holder. Not to be dramatic, but there’s nothing more annoying than a messy, disorganized drawer. We decided to build a DIY Ziploc bag organizer to make one of our drawers a little less disheveled. We made our entire Ziploc organizer out of a 2’x4’ sheet of maple plywood. Cut your plywood down to sizes you need according to the cut list above.
