The walk which begins from the footpath on Hull Road at the south east side of the lake is approximately 6 miles and is known as the Hornsea Triangle. Glastonbury itself is a wonderful town to visit with your canine companion, as it’s very dog-friendly. There are many pubs, cafes and shops in the town that will welcome both you and your four-legged friend, giving you both plenty of op-paw-tunities for a good sit down and tasty treat on your day out. There is a dog friendly café over on the eastern side of the lake and if you don’t fancy the circular walk you could just park at the café car park and have a little wander round – Hornsea mere is the biggest fresh water lake in Yorkshire so it would be a shame to miss it completely! This trail takes you through two of the most beautiful little villages in the area; Snowshill and Stanton, with plenty of impressive views from hilltops, as well as some elements of the classic British woodlands. The full route is 6 miles long, but there is a shorter circular route of 2.5 miles if you want a more relaxed stroll. This walk does include some stiles, but with a bit of assistance, we’re sure your dog will hop right over.

This is another circular walk that provides the walker with outstanding views of the Cotswold countryside and the opportunity to experience its natural beauty. Taking in part of the historic Cotswold Way, this route offer walkers the option of a 6 mile trail or a shorter 4 mile route. The trail which is described as moderate with some steep sections, takes the walker through a variety of habitats including woodlands, limestone grasslands and hilltops culminating in some of the most stunning scenery the Cotswolds has to offer. For more details see the National Trail. Once part of a large estate, Prior’s Wood is now a beautiful nature reserve where you and your pooch can enjoy an enchanting woodland dog walk in Somerset. In late spring, the woods are a popular attraction for the beautiful bluebells displays across the forest floor. Just remember your pup must remain on their lead in the reserve to avoid disturbing the local wildlife. By modifying the position, speed, direction, breadth, and stiffness of their tail wag, dogs can communicate a wide range of emotions. These emotions can be positive or negative – a wagging tail certainly doesn’t always mean a happy dog! The Castles & Coasts way is a long circular route through this quiet area of Somerset and links the Coleridge Way with the England Coast Path.
