About this deal

The orange flavour is just right with this one – it’s not artificial or bitter, and it doesn’t overpower the chocolate flavour. I would have liked something a little more different from the standard Carb Killa range than simply the addition of orange flavour – surely if you’re going to call something ‘Jaffa’ you need a jelly layer… That said the quality of calories in a Greande Carb Killa are better i.e. more protein, less sugar, and less fat… compared to a normal chocolate bar which contains very little protein, lots of sugar and high fat. What Do They Taste Like? Overall this wouldn’t be my go-to flavour – the banana flavour is just too artificial. It gets a 5/10 primarily because of the great texture and macros we’ve come to expect from the Carb Killa range. Peanut Nutter – 8/10 On a more controversial note, Grenade bars are still fairly high in calories. Of course, they can fit neatly into a persons diet, but just because they are high in protein, and low in carbs does not mean they are low in calories… Disclaimer: this article is not an endorsement for Grenade Carb Killas. I’m not being paid for this post (although I wish I was!) it’s literally just my own thoughts/personal opinion(s). What Are Carb Killa Bars?

Grenade Carb Killa White Chocolate Cookie Bar, 12 x 60g

I LOVE dark chocolate, controversial opinion I know, but it’s probably my favourite kind of chocolate at the moment. Hello I was buying this product for long time but from around 3 months Lidl Wood green decide to not this product on the store I am really disappointed about the management I ask the staff nobody cand ever answer what is the issue a own lild product to missing from the store Carb Killas are a protein bar designed by the company Grenade. They taste just like a chocolate bar, but instead contain much more protein (20g+) and have far less sugar (2g). As of writing this article there are 13 different flavours, ranging from white chocolate, caramel, chocolate fudge brownie and birthday cake! We will look at more flavours shortly. Do they work? Thus, on seeing that Grenade had released a PB&J bar, I audibly shrieked with excitement (I never said I was cool). Unsatisfactory quality, not fit for purpose or not as described products are deemed as faulty. The strawberry layer adds a nice tang, but it’s not sharp like the raspberry layer in the Dark Chocolate Raspberry bar. Rather than balancing the sweetness, the tang almost emphasises it. Bang on. The base is the same nougat-like centre as the rest of the bars but with a soft peanut flavour in this case. It’s certainly not a full-on peanut flavour, but it is enough to blend well with the chocolate and the peanut chunks add some extra flavour and crunch. Grenade released this flavour in 2016 but, convinced I hated mint chocolate, I’ve waited until now to try it.

Anyway, Grenade have been playing around with the toppings on their bars recently, and here they’ve switched out the crispies for (what I think) are dark chocolate chips which adds an interesting crunch. The centre is the newer, softer base we’ve seen in the past few flavours. All in all I’d say that they are a good investment. Not only do they satisfy my taste buds and fill me up, but they also help me to hit my protein target for the day, which therefore helps me to get stronger in the gym. It’s a complete contrast to the likes of Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel or Dark Chocolate Raspberry, but it’s a bit of FUN. Fudged Up – 7/10 Recently, Grenade have been nailing their flavours. White Chocolate Salted Peanut, Dark Chocolate Raspberry, and Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel have all been up there with the best of them, but I’ll admit I was skeptical about this one. Grenade, with their Carb Killa/Grenade Protein Bar, have taken the world by storm! From the bars' unbeatable nutritional profile - low sugar and high protein - to their triple-layer, caramel and chocolate indulgence...not to mention the many great flavours! There's not really anything on the market to rival them! Whereas the ‘older’ bars all seem to hover around 15-16g, the newer flavours have been consistently up at 18-20g, almost matching the 20-22g protein in each bar.

Usually I’m really unsure about the mixing of fruit and chocolate, but I’m coming to realise that that applies more to real fruit with chocolate than flavoured chocolate, if you get what I mean. Taking a bite, the overwhelming flavour is strawberry and it’s actually very similar to a McDonald’s strawberry milkshake. It’s definitely an artificial flavour (think strawberries on steroids) but it’s by no means unpleasant.Chocolate orange. You’re either a fan or you can’t stand it. If you’re one of the latter, you’ll be pleased to know that Grenade haven’t gone overboard with the orange flavour here. If you have a sweet tooth this bar is for you. It’s as sweet as the bars with white chocolate coatings, which is unusual for a dark chocolate bar.

The gelatine used in a selection of Grenade products are from a bovine source (cattle) and is certified Halal. This flavour is chocolate on chocolate on chocolate – a fudge-y centre topped with a gooey layer of chocolate, topped again with chocolate chips and then encased in Grenade’s signature milk chocolate (aka a chocolate-lover’s dream). Yet I think this bar could have been majorly improved if the chocolate flavour was more intense – maybe with a chocolate creme instead of the caramel layer – and the crunch was more pronounced. In other words, it would have been improved if it had actually lived up to its name… All of this nutritional awesomeness would be totally worthless if the bars tasted awful. Well, spoiler alert - they don't. In fact, we thought they tasted pretty good. It makes a nice change and it’s certainly better than the Chocolate Crunch the brand brought out a couple of years ago, but I’d go for the Fudge Brownie bar over this any day. Peanut Butter and Jelly – 9/10
