About this deal

I’ve gotten some purple and green fringing in high contrast areas, as shown in the unedited image above. The Minolta does not use it, but I was told that the performance is markedly good at close distances and that is perhaps the reason why it was not included (their 24mm and other wides use floating elements, and they are more compact), considering it is already quite large, but it was still not included on the compact MD calculation.

VR overall sharper compared to its predecessor, it was done at the expense of losing center sharpness, as I explained in detail in my Nikon 24-70mm f/2.In fact, some wedding photographers prefer to just go with a single zoom lens for wide to telephoto range, as well as a telephoto lens like the 70-200mm to go with another camera body.

A 35mm lens is a versatile lens that works great for street photographers, portrait photographers and landscape photographers. Some of our readers, especially those who are just getting into photography, frequently ask me if they should choose the Nikon 35mm f/1. Lots of great Nikkor AI(S) primes in the 85, 105 and 135mm focal length available as well that will shoot just as good as the latest but require manual focus. Also, the bokeh on that 24-120/4 is really not very good (in agreement with the previous full review by Spencer). If you’ve never shot a legacy lens prepare to be awestruck, and if you’ve handled your fair share of manual-focus classics you’re still likely to be impressed. is smaller, lighter and significantly cheaper than its newer brother, which is why I would personally just go with it. Note that we did not experience the same problem with the lens mounted to a Nikon D70 though, which underlines that front- and back-focusing issues are not solely lens-dependent. If you would like to find out more about this lens and check out some more sample images, please see my detailed Nikon 58mm f/1. I have always been a fan of 50mm primes for weddings, because they are very practical and easy to carry around.
