About this deal

Blood stains are notoriously difficult to remove. Its clotting ability binds blood to fibers as it dries, so it’s best to treat these stains while they’re fresh, if possible. Whether cleaning fresh or dried blood, always use cold water to avoid setting the stain. Fresh Blood Select an enzyme cleaner or hydrogen peroxide solution. At-home hydrogen peroxide cleaning solution recipes often call for making a paste with either cornstarch or baking soda. Commercially available red wine stain removers may be helpful. If you choose such a solution, follow the instructions on the container. Other effective cleaning agents include salt, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap. Avoid using hot water when removing wine stains, as heat further sets the stain in the mattress fibers. You should clean your mattress because it’s teeming with dust mites that could cause allergy symptoms, and harboring bacteria from sweat and body oils as well as other bodily fluids; and because you want to make the mattress last as long as possible. You shelled out good money for a mattress, so do your best to keep the mattress in tip-top shape for as long as possible. How often should you clean your mattress? This spray can be used with multiple types of mattresses, and can also be used on other furnishings too, though the manufacturers recommend an inconspicuous patch test for the latter first. The cleaner is designed to lift stubborn organic stains and embedded dirt so your mattress is clean and fresh. It can also remove urine and faecal stains – useful if you have pets who might have had an accident on your bed.

Once you’ve removed any stains, fix the upholstery attachment to your vacuum cleaner and run it up and down the entire surface of mattress. Repeat the process a number of times, being sure to collect up all the dust and dead skin by overlapping in neat, straight lines right up to the edges of the mattress and including the sides too. Then use the crevice tool to reach into the quilting and along the edges. Turn over your mattress and vacuum the other side too. Now let it breathe, ideally with the window open (or better still, outside if it’s a sunny day), and vacuum all around the floor, including under the bed. What about smells?Combine the ingredients in a 32-ounce spray bottle and fill the rest with water. If you want to add some fragrance to your cleaner, pour in a few drops of your favorite essential oil. When it’s time to clean, spray your DIY stain remover onto the dirty spot and let it sit. After a few minutes, spray again and then use a brush to scrub in a circular motion. Spray one last time and wipe with a cloth and a little bit of elbow grease. Make sure you use the cloth to get into all of the crevices. Removing Stains from Memory Foam Mattress If you´re worried about stains, a spray could be a good option as they are often designed to remove stubborn dirt, marks and stains.

Alternatively you can buy an off-the-shelf enzyme-based spot cleaner, such as Rocco & Roxie Stain & Odor Eliminator, and use the method here with that instead. Before you spot clean, remember to dab up as much of the liquid as possible – wiping or scrubbing could spread your stain. Use cloth or sponge rather than paper towels which can disintegrate. Take special care not to get your mattress too wet. Next, hoover your stain to remove the dust and dirt, making it easier for you to clean it properly. When disaster strikes, put your sheets on a cool wash, because hot water will set any stains that you haven’t successfully dabbed off. When it's dry, vacuum the dried baking soda from the mattress, making sure you work into any crevices or folds. (Make sure it is dry, otherwise it could damage your vacuum cleaner.) To remove odors from your mattress, vacuum it thoroughly and then sprinkle baking soda over the surface. Let it sit for several hours or overnight, then vacuum it up. Repeat if necessary. You can also spray the mattress with equal parts water and vinegar–the acetic acid in vinegar kills odor-causing bacteria and refreshes your mattress as it dries. How often should you clean your mattress? For individuals who eat in bed, oily foods and lotions can be what causes yellow stains on mattresses.Scrape away as much of the grease as possible. Sprinkle baking soda onto the stained area and let sit for 20 minutes, then start vacuuming the area.
