About this deal

With the help of Keera and Attes they are able to free Eythos soul from the star and place Sotoria's soul within it so one day it will be reborn/rebirthed and Kolis can finally be killed and ended. Which also relates to the confirmation that Poppy is Sotoria (in a way). We also get to see Ash say goodbye to his father before his soul departs and it's.... yeah, I was crying. To liberate Nyktos and avert this cosmic disaster, Sera must negotiate with Kolis, a being of immense complexity and capriciousness. The challenge is staggering, even for someone like Sera who has undergone a lifetime of rigorous training. Kolis’s most loyal Revenant adds to the complexity by vehemently asserting that Sera is nothing but a fabricated illusion. Kolis himself, with his erratic disposition and convoluted sense of honor, leaves Sera emotionally disoriented and mentally scattered. Worse yet, the malevolent atmosphere of his Court amplifies her discomfort, offering a crucible of cruelty unlike anything she has ever experienced. the ending was so tame?? since this wasn’t the last book in the series, i expected another cliffhanger, but the ending was good and cute. JLA could’ve fleshed out this ending a little bit more and i would have accepted it as the series final. everyone was so happy, the villain was momentarily defeated .. why do we even need a fourth book?

I think it would have been refreshing and more engaging to have multiple POVs in this book. I’m getting fed up with Sera’s repetitive inner thoughts, and I would have loved to know more about what Ash thought and went through, even a few Kolis’ chapters would have been a nice and intriguing change. She admits in her what she believes is her ''dreams'' that she loves him and is in love with him and even HE confesses his love for her but again she believes it’s her own dream and she is manifesting what she hopes he would say one day. Attes and Kyn: Kyn was just the worst, we finally got to know him through his actions - he has r*ped Veses before and was instructed to do it again which he obliged without a heartbeat, and he is just gross). We also find out that when he ascended Attest retained his memories, but Kyn lost them all and from what we have gathered Attes has mentioned that his brother was once good but is now lost. What also really surprised and made this book one of JLA strongest is how she wrote Kolis. To come into this story only having pure hate for him and then become in moments torn between feeling sorry for him and hating him all over again was a constant fight in my head. It was so well written. You can really tell JLA took her time fleshing out what makes up what I feel is either a psychopath or a sociopath. Or both. Just such strong writing. What sets this book apart is the depth given to Ash and Sera as individuals. From book one, I've been invested in their characters, and in "Fire in the Flesh," Armentrout not only maintains but surpasses my expectations. The first 50-60% of the narrative is particularly delightful, providing insights into Kolis's motivations and behavior, adding layers to the story.

NOW WE KNEW HER ASCENSION WOULD HAPPEN - My theory about her ascension panned out exactly as I imagined but first other stuff needed to happen.

Nyktos, however, is resolute in ensuring Sera's safety and granting her the life she merits. He's even willing to jeopardize the very existence of the realms, a consequence if he fails to Ascend as the Primal of Life. Despite his unwavering resolve, their fates might be beyond their control. But there is that foreseen unexpected thread—the unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fates… Buy The Book: I will start by saying I love Ash and Sera. I seriously believe they are the ultimate fantasy couple but of course everyone has their opinion but ever since book 1 I have loved them together and most importantly individually. They hit all the boxes I have concerning book couples and honestly in this one they went above and beyond my expectations. From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her beloved Flesh and Fire series… one of my most hated tropes in fantasy book is when the main characters separated for most of the book and A Flesh in the Fire had exactly that: for 65% of the book Sera and Nyktos were kept in captivity and their only scenes together where when they slept walk, while those scenes were good, it wasn’t nearly enough! When I say that Sera and Nyktos are my faves I mean that with everything in me. I love these characters and the world so so much. Sera is my favorite female character, I love that this book focused on her and how she used what she had access to, to get answers and figure shit out. I know that some people may be annoyed with the amount of Nyktos that we got but I loved it. I felt his absence at times but there were also reminders that this story at its core is a love story and that doesn’t change when the characters aren’t physically together.

plus, this series is just so damn entertaining. i literally cannot put it down. and no cliffhanger for this book (!!) plus i only have to wait until may for book 4!! The scene where Sera finds the stuff in the chests and one of them contains glass sex toys and she smashes one to use as a weapon and stabs Callum and gets out of the cage and kills a few more people before she is caught was epic. And JLA writes tense and actions scenes so well they're cinematic. Very similar to SJM's writing though JLA has much more fluff than SJM. SJM's writing I think is much more deliberate.

this book gets that little boost into 5 star territory due to the pure addictive power of this series. i'm so heavily entranced by these two main characters, and by the overarching plot, that i literally could not put this down. Kolis believes that Sera is Sotoria, his long-lost love that was for all account one sided. We see an entirely new side of Kolis we KNEW existed because despite his madness, you feel bad for him in certain moments. He truly loved her, but he was also madly obsessed with her, and this blurred the lines. I truly think he just lost his damn mind a long time ago and maybe once upon a time he was good? I also see a lot of similarities with Malec in regard to how he has been described. I think there is a obvious balance between twins.... there has to be good and bad to balance it all:
