That i9 12900HK model is a bit ridiculous as I do not think it performs significantly better than the i7 12700H. Dell implements a light sensor that keeps the lighting off in bright environments, and at the same time, the readability is OK at night or in very-dim rooms. I saw some throttling in our most intensive benchmarks, Handbrake, Cinebench, and Pugetbench, primarily when in performance mode. Laptop is the perfect balance of size and performance to fuel even more intensive creative projects. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 comes close, being almost as wide while being deeper thanks to its taller 15-inch 3:2 and larger bezels, but it’s not nearly as powerful.

So will the XPS be better for 4k video editing, plus both its ram slots and ssd is upgradable where else the Asus you said had a 8gb slot that wasn't. I want to only have to manage data on 1 computer, so I have a setup to dock the laptop to a thunderbolt dock and big screen for work. The XPS 15 9520 is widely available all around the world at the time of this article, late-June 2022.
Perhaps an XPS 9510 might be another option to consider, as those are greatly discounted these days. Yeah, I'm finishing up my writing on the Pro 16x and I'm not happy with the size, it's just too bulky and heavy for that sort of a laptop imo.
I haven’t noticed it on my unit, but some XPS 15 users have reported a higher-pitch fan sound on theirs, noticeable with daily use loads, and we’ll discuss that in the Emissions sections further down. Those reflections, though… it’s hard for me to get used to them coming from the matte displays that I’ve been constantly using on my personal devices over the years. They will occasionally kick on with multitasking, and they are rather annoyingly high-pitched when they do at their lower rpms; that aside, it will also take a while for them to turn back to idle, as a result of the lazy fan settings explained above.

When you say better performance that's only cause the 3070 ti performs better than the 3050 ti but you wouldn't need the 3070 for video editing anyway? I was expecting some scaling issues with the non-standard resolution, but I set my unit on 200% scaling and didn’t notice anything funky.
