It also shows off the current modes and settings, which can be helpful if you have multiple operators for the same gimbal as there were only LED lights available. The DJI RS 2 is a mixed bag, on the one hand, the technology blasts the previous generation out of the water. It is beautifully designed, and the attention to detail makes you take note.

If DJI RS 2 has a camera attached and is powered on while updating the firmware, make sure to protect the camera and lens as the motors will power off during the update. There is a ton of good information here. One extra note is to disable selfie mode to prevent accidentally activating it if you accidentally tap the trigger one too many times. You’ll also want to enable silent mode to prevent any notification noises from being played—always a good call. To be honest, it’s probably best to just shut off all the modes you aren’t planning on using. If you are working on a professional project with a big camera crew, this new DJI RS 2 feature conveniently provides everyone with a clear view of the action. While the system is smaller, better designed, and much easier to use, there’s still a lot of excess in cables poking out of the setup, especially if you’ve connected all the accessories. This is by no means a deal breaker, but moving forward, and especially with the advances in wireless technology, it’d be a very welcome addition to see these systems be able to connect without the use of all the USB cables Battery Life Wasn’t as Good as Expected Unlike the Ronin-S where the focus wheel was attached to the side on the RS 2 the focus, the wheel is integrated into the grip and can be operated by your index finger. The one issue I did find was getting the initial positions of the arms correct. On the old Ronin-S, there was always a bit of a battle to subtly adjust the arms positions; this subtlety is even more difficult with these new carbon arms. The first major advantage of the new Ronin RS 2 is the size and weight; it’s smaller and lighter than the old Ronin-S. The weight reduction is welcome. However, I wasn’t so keen on the smaller and more compact sizing.
