About this deal

To say that Moondrop has had a meteoric rise over the past two years would be quite an understatement. Some friends have noted that the macrodynamic performance of the KXXS is better; likewise, I would agree that the Starfield sounds a tad overly loud in the way it scales dynamic swings and not quite as pleasing in its transient attack by comparison. This IEM has a smooth feeling on the low end, lacking a strong sense of dynamic and physical impact (strike and wince factor). From the unique design to the very delicate and natural sound, it’s a listening experience, I simply can’t recommend enough.

I do not hear and lushness of velvet thickness to the notes as they are presented to me, regardless of what source produce or amp I am paired with. The Starfield are single dynamic driver IEMs, unlike so many of the multi balanced armature and hybrid designs that are so popular right now. In any case, all seem to be receiving fairly universal acclaim for good sound quality, so they may be onto something with this whole carbon nanotube thing.I assumed that the writing on the round black plastic cable Y-split faced front, and then I assigned the left and right cables based on that.

We really think Moondrop could’ve provided a bigger carrying case as you’ve to really wind the cable tightly to fit in the IEMs.The lack of thickness to the midrange yields the impression of delivering every subtle nuance within the music.

The Moondrop Starfield is a 110 dollar IEM, it has a single Dynamic driver that sports carbon nanotubes per side. In essence, microscopic tubes of carbon (excellent conductors of heat and energy) were heated and cooled. What’s more, Starfield inherits the balanced three-frequency distribution of KXXS, and relies on different materials to perform softer and warmer sound. Treble is a bit subdued on the E3000 and can sound a bit splashy in certain tracks (in case of cymbals).

Not unlike the 64 Audio U12t, the Starfield toes the line between being intangibly pleasing and slightly neutering resolution with its soft, blunted transient attack; decay is equally oh-so-natural. From having less recognition than KZ/TRN to being one of the premiere Chinese manufacturers — it’s been quite a journey for them.
