It’s bigger with better jogwheels, but with a weaker feature-set overall and a more compromised Serato mapping than this one, making this our favourite out of the two. However, it is worth noting that there’s a slight catch in terms of the controller’s four-deck functionality, which is that Serato DJ Lite only allows you to use two decks. The NS4FX features a layer button on each deck allows each side to toggle control quickly between multiple decks, making it easy to layer, mash and mix up to 4 tracks at the same time. The additional RCA booth output with dedicated control is perfect for sending audio to a personal monitor speaker or to an additional zone or area of a larger sound system.

For ease of operation, the Elevate 4’s on/off/volume knob is conveniently located on the front panel of the right speaker. A dedicated loop area on each deck with multipliers allows you to quickly access and manipulate seamless loops to expand your mix or create bespoke transitions. Crossfader assignment switches on the front panel allow each channel to be assigned to side A or side B of the crossfader or bypass the crossfader altogether.

Hardware controls are also available for the wet/dry mix and beat division when it comes to adding effects. In practical terms, that means that you can livestream by “hijacking” the audio via the USB cable and the NS4FX’s built-in audio interface, and it’ll contain your mic/aux sources as well as the Serato music, negating the need for a serarate USB mic or audio interface when livestreaming via your DJ laptop. We’d like to have seen LFO high pass / low pass filters implemented on the fixed six effects, as the ones they’ve chosen don’t make much sense when you already have “manual” filter controls on every channel.
