About this deal

Accessory items that are not covered under the No Worries Warranty carry a 90 day warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This includes speakers, wire, cables, battery covers, etc. Observe the battery temperature, voltage and current during charge. Charge only at ambient temperatures in a well-ventilated room. Once the battery is fully charged and the current has dropped to 3 percent of the rated Ah, the charge is completed. Disconnect the charge. Also disconnect the charge after 16–24 hours if the current has bottomed out and cannot go lower; high self-discharge (soft electrical short) can prevent the battery from reaching the low saturation level. If you need float charge for operational readiness, lower the charge voltage to about 2.25V/cell.

If by emulating a car battery you mean simply being able to provide the needed voltage and amperage without any concern for the behavior of a large load on a lead acid battery like voltage droop, sagging, inductance/capacitance, recovery effect, powered/alternator vs unpowered, etc, then yes, you can use it. Your pump doesn't care about the voltage or current source. A power supply is used to reduce mains or three phase electricity, often at 240 Vac or 440 Vac down to a voltage that is usable, such as 12 Vdc. The PSU also converts the current rating, in the form of AMPS, to a level that is safe for the device that is to be powered. What is the difference between the types of power supplies? There is a range of built in safety features and the units are simple to use. As standard the units will produce a steady 14.4 or 28.8 Volts up to the fully rated output current with power factor correction. A power supply can also reverse sulfation. Set the charge voltage above the recommended level, adjust the current limiting to the lowest practical value and observe the battery voltage. A totally sulfated lead acid may draw very little current at first and as the sulfation layer dissolves, the current will gradually increase. Elevating the temperature and placing the battery on an ultrasound vibrator may also help in the process. If the battery does not accept a charge after 24 hours, restoration is unlikely. (See BU-804b: Sulfation and How to Prevent it)The power supplies are multi fan cooled with inbuilt thermal management for operation up to 50°C ambient environments. The safety features include; Internal AC Residual Current Protection, Overload and Short Circuit protection. The power modules conform to EMC standards for noise emissions and immunity. Delivered as standard this unit is supplied with a 2m heavy duty lead, fitted with a 3 pin NATO connector for direct aircraft connection, but extra extension and alternative format connections are available.

First off, that symbol on the laptop pwr adaptor simply means that its output is DC current (as opposed to AC mains power). Please note that not all Li-ion batteries charge to the voltage threshold of 4.20V/cell. Lithium iron phosphate typically charges to the cut-off voltage of 3.65V/cell and lithium-titanate to 2.85V/cell. Some Energy Cells may accept 4.30V/cell and higher. It is important to observe these voltage limits. (See BU-205: Types of Lithium-ion) You can also use the power supply to equalize a lead acid battery by setting the charge voltage 10 percent higher than recommended. The time in overcharge is critical and must be carefully observed. (See BU-404: What is Equalizing Charge)

How do power supplies work?

However, the laptop adapter's voltage is a full volt above the specified 18 V; this will cause more current to flow into your device, since the voltage has been increased. Whether this difference is significant enough to destroy your LED sign is a matter of how much tolerance was built into it; the 1-volt increase may merely increase the brightness of the LEDs or burn them, if 19 V is outside the device's range, or have no noticeable effect at all (if the 19 V is being stepped down further within the device). Make Sure Your Item Needs To Be Repaired Before Sending It To Us! Many of the units we receive for repair do not need any repairs at all. Before you send any units for repair, please take a few minutes to review our Support Options. Before connecting the battery, calculate the charge voltage according to the number of cells in series, and then set the desired voltage and current limit. To charge a 12-volt lead acid battery (six cells) to a voltage limit of 2.40V, set the voltage to 14.40V (6 x 2.40). Select the charge current according to battery size. For lead acid, this is between 10 and 30 percent of the rated capacity. A 10Ah battery at 30 percent charges at about 3A; the percentage can be lower. An 80Ah starter battery may charge at 8A. (A 10 percent charge rate is equal to 0.1C.)

We have a wide selection of power supply units (PSUs) for use in various domestic and industrial applications. Our range includes AC-DC power supply adapters and desktop computer power supply suitable for domestic applications, as well as bench power supplies, DIN Rail and panel mount power supplies and switch mode PSU. What is a power supply? Keep in mind that an active car system will be powered by the alternator and not the battery. Voltage will fluctuate based on the engine and is nominally 14.5V while the bare battery might be at 13V fully charged and down to 11V at the low usable end. Power supply efficiency is known as the amount of power actually provided to the internal circuitry, divided by the amount of power drawn from the mains supply. If a PSU is 50% efficient and is required to provide 50 Watts of power, 100 Watts will be drawn from the main supply. The extra 50 W is lost as heat. A 90% efficient PSU would draw 56 W in the same circumstances. What industries can power supplies be used in? The weird symbol indicates its a DC output. This laptop adapter supplies an output voltage of 19 V and a maximum output current of 3.42 A, well above your original adapter's 2A maximum. This doesn't mean your device will consume 3.42 A when its powered with this adapter; it is only an indication of the maximum current that can be drawn through the adapter by any device that it is connected to, above which the adapter gets damaged. Any device will only draw as much current as it needs, so long as its power source can supply it. Power supplies are a crucial aspect of any electrical equipment, providing reliable power to machinery, computers or other technology devices. A power supply changes a source electric current, such as a mains plug, to the correct voltage, frequency and current needed to operate the equipment safely. How do power supplies work?

Intentional damage and customer modifications outside the scope of instructions provided with the product are not covered by this warranty. Note:Some Digitrax productsare no longer repairable due to unavailability of repair parts. Un-repairable items will be returned to you at no charge with no repairs made.
