About this deal

The 4 Pro provides a greater maximum range of up to 55 km, whereas the Pro 2 offers a maximum range of up to 45 km. Both the 4 Pro and the Pro 2 require an average charging time of 8 to 9 hours to reach full battery capacity.

The ride quality is one aspect where the Pro 2 has provided a lot of improvement. Because of the new and improved tires, the scooter provides a more stable, more confident ride, while reducing the risk of flats at the same time, which is quite difficult to achieve. Turning and cornering are well-balanced, and the overall control and balance of the scooter are very friendly to beginners, including first-time riders. The Xiaomi Pro 2 arrives in a nice branded Xiaomi box, with all the necessary protective covering around all the parts. In Europe, the box will probably have the Russian word for electric scooter inscribed on it (Электросамокат), so if you don’t understand Russian, no need to worry, you’ve gotten the original scooter. The Xiaomi Pro 2 is water-resistant, but not entirely waterproof. That means it can withstand some riding in the rain, although it should never be submerged in water. It is still strongly advised to avoid riding in the rain as much as you can, although many owners have reported doing so without any problems. Lights, night rides, legality

The scooter hasn’t been around that long, but early reports on the lifespan are looking very promising. If we consider the fact that this scooter is an upgrade to the Xiaomi M365 Pro (that often went 2 years without a glitch for many owners, and will probably go much longer), we can safely expect the Pro 2 to go for a good number of years without a single major defect. Design, colors, looks The Xiaomi Pro 2 has three riding modes that you can switch between by pressing the power button when the scooter is on. The three modes – Eco, Drive and Sport – cap your speed at different levels. Eco gives you a top speed of 10mph, Drive 12mph and Sport 15mph, although I managed to go slightly faster in each mode. That very much depends on the electric scooter model you have and the ingress protection (IP) rating it has. Most commuter electric scooters have protection against water jets from all directions, which gives them an IPX5 or IPX6 rating. However, those aren't recommended to use during rain, especially heavy downpours, most likely in case you encounter flooding.

Both models utilize lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum in their construction, ensuring durability and portability. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro is equipped with 10-inch self-sealing tubeless tires, while the Pro 2 has 8.5-inch chamber tires. The larger wheel size of the 4 Pro offers greater driving stability and makes it easier to overcome obstacles. The Kugoo Kirin G3 is a staggering scooter with an imposing profile to match, boasting a 936Wh juicing a 1200W motor that gives it a 70-km (37-mile) range and a top speed of 50kmh (about 31 miles). It's an impressive piece of kit whose max speed and great acceleration won’t lag far behind cars in large metropolitan areas. Of course, its 10.5-inch off-road tires make riding a smooth affair even if you have to take it on not-so-well-paved roads. Price-wise, the 4 Pro is slightly more expensive than the Pro 2, with a difference of approximately 200 euros. Both models have a maximum speed of 25 km/h, which complies with the speed limits set by regulations in many countries. There are ways to customize the firmware of the Pro 2 and tweak it to perform in the way you want it to. You should know that this process may damage your scooter and void your warranty.

The 2W main LED headlight on the top of the stem points down at a slight angle, and lights up the road ahead for about 5-6 meters. There’s also a red brake light on the rear fender that’s turned on when you brake. Both of them are quite strong, which makes the scooter safe for riding at night.A longer press on the power button turns the scooter on or off. When the scooter is on, a short press turns the lights on or off. Interestingly, the Max climbs a bit worse at 11°, and that’s likely because of its bigger weight of 19 kg / 42 lbs, which is about 5 kg / 10 lbs more than the Pro 2. That is not a trivial difference in weight, and for many, that will be too much to carry (plus, the Max takes up more space as well).

The mobile app provides some other useful information, such as current speed, distance travelled and the current battery capacity in per cent. I particularly liked the estimated range, which tells you how many miles or kilometres the battery is likely to generate before needing to be recharged. The Pro 2 has a maximum load capacity of 100kg and weighs 14.2kg . Approved for road traffic, it is therefore useful for long distances or daily commuting. The 474 Wh battery is quite powerful and provides a range of up to 28 mph - much longer than that of similar models like the M365 and 1S. However, by keeping the maximum speed constant, the range is reduced to about 18 miles, which is still sufficient for home-work commuting. The battery takes between 8 and 9 hours to fully charge. When ridden safely, the best e-scooters offer plenty of benefits to the riders and to the environment. And, much like the best electric bikes, they will get you out of that artificial air environment you spend most of your days in and breathe fresh, natural air.
