About this deal

Her aunt has been fostering the girl and they can tell that she is intelligent. Something bad happened to this girl though and she is still scared a year later of whatever it was. Clifford and Birdie will team up to find out who the girl is so that they can help her move forward, but as they get deeper into the case – they realize that she’s not the only one in danger. It’s an odd, but endearing, pairing that, especially in the first books of the series, is perilously dysfunctional. But Whitney and George, at some level, realise that they do have a real and important connection, and they both persevere to develop their professional relationship and their slow-growing personal friendship. This student is not the only one to be found .... very similar to the first girl. Alternating chapters give the reader an insight to the mind of a killer .. and to how law enforcement go about looking at possible suspects. And with an entire college to look at, the suspects are plenty. This case also sees Whitney and George’s relationship tested due to a secret that Whitney is not privy to as George would not discuss it as she is keeping a confidence. So they need to dig deep to get on with the case. Can they find a way to put the case first and mend things once Whitney finds out?

Things heat up too much when the killer goes after, Whitney’s daughter, Tiffany, a university student at the college. As with the previous novels I find Ms. Rigby's characters to ring true. Their relationships and behaviors are believable, as is their dialog. Actions of the police are interesting and believable as well. The main characters are likeable, their relationships and interactions interesting. Ms. Rigby's writing is crisp, well-paced, well researched, and enjoyable. I look forward to future installments and developments in this well written police procedural series. I Also enjoy watching the development of the characters and reading about their lives, loves, concerns and work related dynamics. This was my first read from author Sally Rigby, did like Deadly Games, liked both of the main characters and can't wait to see them grow with each new book.

The Cavendish & Walker Series in Order (12 Books)

Once again DCI Whitney Walker and Forensic Psychologist Georgina Cavendish are re-united in the search for a serial killer. Ah, another great story starring DCI Whitney Walker and Dr Georgina (George) Cavendish. If I haven't mentioned it before you would do well to start your journey with Sally Rigby's books about this pair of crime busters with book 1 "Deadly Games". Through alternating chapters, the reader catches a glimpse of the mindset of the killer, while the search continues for the killer. I enjoyed the first book and am happy to say I enjoyed this one even more. The plot was tight and the writing style drew me straight in. I'm enjoying the character development, not just of Whitney and George but of the police team and even Whitney's unpredictable and unlikable superior, Jamieson. Sally Rigby is an English author best known for writing the Cavendish & Walker series of books. She is also the author of the Sebastian Clifford series. In addition to her own books, Sally also writes psychological thrillers under the name of Amanda Rigby.

Not a bad story, but I had several problems with this book. To start with I don’t particularly like investigations where I have more sympathy with the perpetrator than the victim. Not that I approve of vigilantes, but it does take the edge of my interest. A great 2nd book in a series. Got to get to know the characters more. I was disappointed that I nailed the killer early. unlike in book 1 when I kept changing my mind.... It will be nice to see the development of the series and characters as this series progresses. This is the beginning of an exciting new series featuring DCI Whitney Walker and Forensic Psychologist, Dr. Georgina Cavendish. It all begins when George (Georgina) finds the body of a college student who has been murdered. George is a teacher and researcher and wants nothing more to help the police find this killer.Partly because Sally Rigby has just been so wonderful. To send me - little old me - a signed copy of her first book, and those of two of her fellow authors, just because I have no greater talent than an ability to tell a bad joke. The least I can do after having read the book is to leave a review. But I have to be honest. And, I'm really sorry, but that means saying something critical ...
