Imo, descriptions of what one sees and feels do not have languages. Belinda’s dialogues could have broken English, yeah? But her cleaning the sink with Cif needn’t be narrated in broken English. It just irked me. Amber becomes the patient in Wilson's Heart (where, according to her admission bracelet, she was admitted on March 12, 2007), wherein she experiences multiple organ failures as the disease progresses. The cause is revealed to be amantadine poisoning, as the crash destroyed her kidneys, and she was unable to process the medication she was taking for the flu - amantadine was left to circulate in her system for more than a day, damaging all major organs (eventually leading to the cardiac episode in the ambulance), and making her ineligible for transplantation in the process. At the end of the episode, she died in Wilson's arms as the machines were shut down, and her death left him devastated. In truth, it is clear that although House is flattered, he's not really interested in pursuing a relationship with Ali. However, he has no intention of hurting her. Amber hallucination: " So, this is the story you made up about who you are. It's a nice one." Kutner hallucination: " Too bad it isn't true" ―Both Sides Now Belinda's later relationship with Amma was largely based on dialogue which was unnecessarily stilted and therefore felt awkward and artificial.

In the episode Brave Heart, Wilson wants House (who has been living with him for a while) to move into the study which is covered in pictures of Amber. While sleeping there, House starts to hear whispering, he soon hears it in an air vent and follows it to Wilson's room where he overhears him talking to Amber. When House confronts Wilson about this, he told House that it made him feel better. House tries talking to his dad, he yells at Wilson that he thinks it's stupid. Wilson tells Amber that House is starting to get better. Like the facade, many of the interior furnishings that appear in the series – including the sofa, dining table and the fatal cantilevered stairs – were also built by the production team. Hold is a contemporary novel that revolves around a Ghanaian house girl named Belinda Otuo. A near-adult, she works for ‘Aunty’ and ‘Uncle’ as their housemaid. Her fellow house girl, Mary, is just a child, and Belinda sort of takes her under her wing, being her mentor, best friend, and big sister. Amma attends an outstanding and prestigious private school SGHS, which one rather suspects draws on St Paul's Girl School (SPGS) where the author himself teaches, albeit he has relocated the school from Hammersmith to Streatham and imposed a school uniform. Donkor’s day job as an English teacher also helped him access the female teenage mindset. His current post is at St Paul’s girls’ school in west London. “It’s funny,” he says, “because the girls at school ask me whether they have inspired some of my observations about teenage girls… and yeah, I’m watchful of the ways young people interact. And how direct they are.”( https://www.theguardian.com/books/201...)

But growing up is the same for all I feel. We all have to battle against preconceptions handed down from elders. Its the way things change, we batter against their rules and change the world. This is a book about four characters and the strongest character is the house," Delaney said. "It's the most dominant character." Production designer Jon Henson was inspired by Japanese architecture Belinda knows how to follow the rules. As a housegirl, she has learnt the right way to polish water glasses, to wash and fold a hundred handkerchiefs, and to keep a tight lid on memories of the village she left behind when she came to Kumasi. Apart from her surname, which indicates a Greek heritage, little is known about Amber before showing up in The Right Stuff. She was born on September 10, 1978, according to her hospital admission bracelet in Wilson's Heart. Her medical school diploma, which is still on display in her old apartment, appears to be from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, one of the top medical schools in the United States. She would have also completed a residency in radiology - the use of radiological imaging in treating the disease, then a fellowship in interventional radiology. I think given time and more independence in the editorial process, Donkor will write a novel that’ll be a 5 star read. Sadly, this wasn’t it, but I can see that potential in him as a writer. I hope he continues writing stories as deep and truly eye opening as this one.

Unexpectedly an opportunity arises for Belinda to travel to London to move in with a friend of Aunty’s. But this move entails a slightly different role for Belinda. She is not to fill a housegirl position, but instead that of the role of companion for a teenage girl, Amma, who is having issues and is struggling within her family unit. Amma’s parents are unable to get through to her and they feel that someone like Belinda, a girl with a sensible attitude and a solid view on life will be just what Amma needs. Helena’s pinking eyes flashed. ‘When I thought I might drown. But you know about that. So you’re probably after something –’Henson also built rain bars into the main courtyard from which water could pour down to make it appear as if it was raining. This meant that he had to put the entire set on a raised platform above an extraction tank underneath the stones in the courtyard, allowing water to be drained and pumped out. Moving between Ghana and London, Hold is an intimate, moving, powerful coming-of-age novel. It’s a story of friendship and family, shame and forgiveness; of learning what we should cling to, and when we need to let go. Michael Donkor most definitely raises many topical societal issues in Hold, relating to culture, sexuality and one’s place in the world, all extremely important subjects. Hold is a passionate debut, with Michael Donkor’s Ghanaian heritage very evident throughout, but unfortunately Hold just missed the mark for me

Discover a new community on the edge of open countryside a short commute from Newcastle city centre Mary is still learning the rules. Eleven-years old and irrepressible, the young housegirl-in-training is the little sister Belinda never had. Hold is the story of the relationship between Amma and Belinda but it is also a story of a young girl leaving her native country for a supposedly greater opportunity. Belinda is the catalyst that the family needs, but for Belinda the move is tough. She misses Aunty and Uncle, but most of all she misses young Mary. Doctor and Nana (the ‘borrowers’) say Belinda should study for her GCSEs and are appalled whenever she cleans their house while staying in London — but they aren’t all that better — they’ve brought Belinda home for Amma the way people bring pets home to help their child. In many ways, they’re just as bad as Belinda’s employers. The two of them – Amma, Mary – in their own, very different ways , in their different times and places, had made Belinda think and laugh so hard. It used to be nice.’ Nana sighed, put down her Gulder. ‘Past. We have to use past tense because is now lost and gone, you get me? As if in the blinking of a cloud of some smoke she has just become possessed. Not talking. Grumpy. Using just one word, two words for communication. As if she is carrying all of the world on her shoulders.'

Another reviewer had mentioned the same thing (either on Goodreads or on Netgalley), about how the book feels like it was edited for a white audience. I agree with them wholeheartedly on this. As a POC and a WOC myself, I could understand what the other reviewer meant, And, finally, her relationship with Wilson suggests that Amber is not a misanthrope as she clearly loves Wilson, trusts him, and desires that Wilson's needs are met within the relationship. I'd seen that in Japan they often use slatted timber – narrow slats of timber with spaces between them," he recalled.Amma is the daughter of prominent Ghanaians who are friends of Belinda’s employers, and she is done with rules. The parents decide that Belinda’s disciplined and stalwart ways are the prime example for their daughter. Belinda is then sent to London to live as Amma’s companion and friend, but not without Mary feeling abandoned due to the loss of Belinda.
