About this deal

If you've ever seen a performance by Sarah Kay you probably realized how much she puts in her poetry.

Both fresh and wise, Kay’s poetry allows readers to join in on her journey of discovering herself and the world around her.Reading through the poems (to myself and out loud to family members) I found that I could not quite capture all of the magic that Sarah has when she presents her poems. With freshness and wisdom, Kay's poetic voyage invites readers to embark on a soul-stirring journey of self-discovery and exploration of the world around her. Even though Sarah Kay has established quite the fan base on Goodreads and on the web, I just could not connect with these poems on a deeper level - perhaps because poetry has never been my genre of choice. I highly think the connection between us is palpable, her words connect to me with too much precision. Sarah Kay's spectacular poetry reached me so deeply that I've already passed the book on to my little sister a mere ten minutes after reading it, because I wanted to share the gift of these spectacular and empowering words with her.

Kay is also a successful educator, who co-directs Project VOICE (Vocal Outreach Into Creative Expression). She is an education advocate and keynote speaker for education organizations like NAIS, ECIS, AISA, and IBO, among others. No Matter the Wreckage presents readers with new and beloved work that showcases Kay’s knack for celebrating family, love, travel, history, and unlikely love affairs between inanimate objects, among other curious topics. An alum of the United Nations International School and a graduate of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. I leave this book with a feeling of how very under rated she is (despite all the love and fame she garners). A dear friend brought Sarah Kay to my attention a few months ago in an attempt to explain to me the wonders of spoken-word poetry. Most of us have had the experience of being forced to read poetry in school, laboring to find the "hidden meaning" that may or may not have been placed there intentionally.
