About this deal

At the end of the playtest my shoes look just as new as they did at the beginning, and they have plenty of life left.

The Boost cushioning in the heel was rather plush, but the forefoot felt minimal, much like a Barricade. But for people with wider feet who fill out the shoes a bit more, I think they'll find the SoleCourt Boosts to feel faster than their weight would suggest. Released in January 2019, the adidas SoleCourt Boost was perhaps the closest alternative for longtime fans of the Barricade, which after nearly two decades, didn’t receive an update last year and won’t in 2020. Because I found the toe box to be a bit wide and spacious, I could feel my feet sliding around inside the shoes, especially when I was pulled off the court. Adidas has shelved the iconic Barricade nameplate in favor of introducing a brand new top line, the Adidas SoleCourt Boost.

A portion of the laces hide underneath the upper’s fabric, and there are two small loops you have to thread the laces through to help keep the forefoot snug, which can be a bit cumbersome. The SoleCourt Boost felt close to a traditional Barricade for me in terms of stability, so I'm impressed. You may also give us your racquets to our tennis stringing service, where we could string or customize your racquet. You’ll also find the word Boost written in a diagonal pattern across the black sections of the box for a subtle touch. The Boost cushioning was simply incredible for extended hard court sessions, absorbing shock and putting some extra bounce in my movements. Although it did add stability, I sometimes got caught up when crossing over, which made these shoes feel slower around the court.

All in all, the adidas SoleCourt Boost is one of my favorite tennis shoes that deliver excellent comfort, stability, and durability in a stylish package. Early in my playtest, the shoes provided virtually no give when stopping, but they started to loosen up a bit in the second week of hitting with them as the outsole began to break in.

If adidas allocated the weight toward making the shoes more stable and durable, that's fine with me. The outrigger is pretty pronounced here, and while it did add to the stability of the shoe, there were times where I felt it hindered my movement. He explained how these SoleCourt Boosts fit his narrow feet, saying, "The fit of these shoes was very similar to the adidas Barricade 2018 when it came to the length. While our wide-footed testers appreciated the wider toe box, those with medium and narrow feet couldn't help being disappointed. They are more middle weight and provide good stability, so they're not as beefy as a traditional Barricade but not as sleek as the Ubersonic.Up toward the front on the inside or medial edge, you’ll notice the tread is a bit thicker for added durability in that high impact area. Across the board, our playtesters found that the modified herringbone outsole pattern on the SoleCourt Boost provided an optimal balance of grab and give. For this review, I took the adidas SoleCourt Boost on a two-mile coast run to gain a feel for the shoes’ comfort and weight. Similar to Sean, Erik actually appreciated some of the extra material, especially on his most aggressive movements. Compared to my favorite adidas Stella Barricade Boosts, the SoleCourt Boosts are more stable than my favorite adidas shoe but not as soft and cushioned.
