Written by the same author as 14,000 Things to be Happy About, The Wish List is a catalogue of close to 6,000 unexpected goals, everything from write a love poem to watch the sun set over Machu Picchu. The best Life should be about making memories. Going on holiday with your nearest and dearest is sure to create some! The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. This book is a series of connected short stories about the colonization of Mars. It’s relevant, it’s smart, it’s funny, it was the first time I ever truly enjoyed reading. But they can quite often seem too farfetched to actually act upon. By contrast, simpler alternatives can seem more realistic and actually inspire the action needed to make them happen. But I also think a big part of what Ramit calls ‘your rich life’ is digging deeper into the things you really want to do and matter most to you. Watch your favorite movie at home with popcorn and blankets (bonus points if you make it a double feature) Dune, even for people who don’t necessarily read scifi. Especially now, with the whole “let’s take care of our planet before it’s too late” discussion. Reading Dune in adulthood had such an impact on me, that I often found myself physically thirsty after each reading session. It also made me more aware of my footprint, made me think about the scarcity of resources, accumulating crap around the house, etc. Great book, great story, great writing style.Founded in 2010, Thought Catalog is owned and operated by The Thought & Expression Company, Inc. For over a decade, we've been at the bleeding edge of media, pioneering an infrastructure for creatives to flourish both artistically and financially. Climb to the top of the Statue of Liberty in New York City and look out over the city from her perch high above Manhattan’s streets (or go up to the top of any other skyscraper)
