About this deal

I know there's an urge to feel macho and swing a giant hammer, but you'll get more done with one that's easier to swing. Use the tools that work the best for the job at hand and choose the tool that will best get the job done quickly and effectively. The size of the head allows additional force to be applied and distributed over a wide area with a variety of head weights available to suit the task at hand. The energy argument seems right until I use something heavier and the mass/inertia just seems to take care of the job. The handle construction is fantastic as well, driving a splitting wedge through some of the knottiest grand fir I've ever seen and I felt zero reverb.

It features an unbreakable steel-core handle technology to prevent breaking during overstrikes, making it ideal for demolition applications. Also I find that using sledge hammers with a fiber glass handle to be better in general then wooden handles. Wilton Tools 22030 BASH sledge hammer is designed for use in demolition, construction and heavy-duty tasks. The BASH does seem to be a nice sledge for sure, I think they are made in South Africa, but I have not been able to confirm this yet. In a professional environment you shouldn't be using a sledge hammer unless you're breaking rocks of course. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

A sledgehammer is a robust tool with a large, flat head surface and a long handle, great for gathering the momentum needed in a swing for heavy duty construction or demolition work.Great for driving in stakes, heavy demolition work in construction like fracturing stone and concrete, driving fence posts, rebar work and bending or shaping metal.

As a heavy equipment mech and not an animal, 6'2",225, 28 y/o, a 16lb is about max for using alot for me, a friend whose a bit smaller, asked his boss for a 20lb, swung that a few times doing jobs where the 16 wouldn't work, not a fan of it at all.I used every thing from the one handed sledge hammer, '4 pounder', to the heavier 20 lb sledge hammer.

I would definitely not recommend it for anyone who is not either above average strength or using an assist. This year I'm clearing an area for a shed, and decided to get something a little bigger to (hopefully) break things up a little faster and with fewer hits. Being 40 and not quite the shape I was once in, I took a few more breaks than I expected due to the weight of heaving this hammer.
