About this deal

Even if I could keep my gloves from getting soaked during the crash itself, having to clean off and then grip somewhat snow-packed grips ensured cold hands. Simply put, either descending at speed or riding into a headwind, I felt no wind on my hands–the Bar Mitts blocked 100% of the wind. The zipper isn’t seam sealed like you would see on a rain jacket, but if conditions are bad enough to wear these mitts, any precipitation has probably long turned to snow or hail.

As a side note I found an interesting greener replacement product named Neogreene, which is free of VOC's and other toxins, and has a more environmentally-friendly manufacturing process.

The Bar Mitts keep my grips dry and snow-free at all times, which in turn makes for happy hands throughout the entirety of my ride. mm thick neoprene with nylon laminated on each side, and are double stitched along the fold creating a good wind tight seal. You did occasionally get whacked by branches and bushes, since they stick out like giant oven mitts or hand paddles, and sometimes they got grabbed, so you had to keep a watchful eye on things. Unlike most pogies, Bar Mitts do not cinch closed around the wrist, which makes me feel better about potentially disconnecting from my bike on rougher trails. Once installed they stand up nicely (semi-rigid), and are stiff enough that the large 4x6 inch opening is easy to egress and ingress.

Finally, I was pleased to find a cure for the cold wrists I often came home with, a product of jersey and jacket sleeves riding up, leaving my wrists exposed. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). A neoprene pogie intended for colder temperatures beyond the standard Bar Mitts and is designed to work with drop bar style handlebars to keep hands warm.I was happy to be able to grab a bottle, open a bar/gel, or use my cycling computer whenever I wanted. the top cuff of the mitt continues to act as a wind break even when you slide your hand up on the bar. They stayed securely in place no matter what seemed to happen, even with the occasional tree encounter. Lastyear I used thick 3m weather tech snow gloves but even at 10F I'd generate enough heat to get them wet, then the finger tips would freeze and I'd be sol.
