I can’t recommend the audiobook enough, as I was laughing so often I lost track of time and “like a teenager with a laptop, I was surprised at how far I’d come”. Mid way between an autobiography and a self help book, it offered a lighthearted perspective of the difficult parts of life. He is a regular on all the top panel shows, including QI and A League Of Their Own , has performed as part of The Royal Variety Performance three times, and a judge on BBC1's I Can See Your Voice . There isn’t anything particularly unique about the essence of Carr’s advice, but his frame of reference - stand up comedy - is something different.

Immense - after hearing Jimmy on The Diary of a CEO, I realised that he was a very intelligent guy and had a lot of share.Cheaper than Scientology, quicker than therapy and much less boring than church - this is the hugely funny and insightful book about happiness by top comedian Jimmy Carr, and anyone feeling stuck in a rut should devour it.

I ‘discovered’ Irish comedian Jimmy Carr when I stumbled upon the panel show ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ on YouTube only a year or two ago. It was an anecdotal self help guide without diving too deep, sort of ‘self help from the average Joe who’s just trying his best’s’ point of view- which I really appreciated. I would much prefer more of the anecdotes and background to his life rather than telling me how to live my life etc.

It’s very rapid, the stories are short but funny (with the one exception of the one about his mum) and the lessons that he’s learnt along the way. I didn’t like it at all at the start but eventually some of the humour came through and made it a more enjoyable read.
