I have found the Cornice IA Jacket; lightweight and suitable for summer use, and with the spectrum fleece warm and waterproof for winter use. The good: Berghaus know a bit about build quality, they've been at it for decades, and Goretex fabric is tip top. I never have any luck with zips however the main zip up the front has a quality feel and I have had no problems with it jamming.

It is waterproof, windproof and breaths well provided you do not have too many layers for the breathability to cope with. It is very well made and fits well, and the 2 hand pockets and 1 inner map pocket (both zipped) are deep enough .

Same applies to this current purchase as I knew what I was getting and am happy with the jacket overall. Durability is excellent as nothing has broken or torn, with only minimum wear on the cuffs and the waterproof performance is still excellent .

To start with a suitable base layer, Choose either a long or short sleeve wicking t-shirt such as polyester, wool or similar you will feel allot warmer and no clammy moisture against your skin. Extra refinements all around the jacket make it easier to wear and more effective at keeping you comfortable in the outdoors - it's a perfect coat for walking the British countryside. e animal hair's, odors from smoke or fragrances, or any sign that goods have been used other than inspecting indoors. Adjustable fit - elasticated hem and waist drawcords and adjustable cuffs to alter the fit to suit you.

Being able to zip in a fleece is a useful feature especially in winter, but this does affect the breathability a lot. A proper layering system can certainly help any waterproof jacket with its performance and breathability. What you wear under a waterproof jacket can be a very subjective question depending on what activity you are doing.
