About this deal

Each treacherous stride along the mountain trail led me deeper into a tangled web of deception, among unscrupulous characters hiding dark secrets. But apart from that, I quite liked the characters, flawed as they were, they seemed real, though it baffles me how anyone can agree to a trip into the Norwegian mountains without being properly trained for it. Along the way, Magary's hero hunts for an enigmatic mastermind, encounters man-eating giants and monsters, and teams up with a talking crab. Another thing that puzzled me was the very short sentence one of the culprits got, I know Norwegian prisons are more luxurious than most, but surely the judicial system still punishes criminals for serious offences?

Having started the hike, they find themselves in more than a spot of bother and it’s at this point that the thrillingness kicks in. Liz feels stuck in her life and has arranged a girls getaway to Norway for her and her three childhood best friends; Joni, Maggie, and Helena. I’ve never been so sure of my not being a rugged, outdoor kinda gal as I was while reading this book. It's crazy we're finally on the actual hike and we're still barely focusing on it and spending pages going on and on about so many insignificant boring details and their back stories. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). In each book I’ve read by Clarke, I’ve always been particularly blown away by her deft ability to build consistent and ever ratcheting suspense. Every year the women go on holiday to maintain their friendship, taking it in turns to pick the destination. Admittedly, the story does play out in a style somewhat reminiscent of those classic text-based adventure computer games, but I have to say unless you’re going into this using Catherine as a baseline for trippiness, this one is going to be WEIRD WEIRD WEIRD.

I purchased this book on audio myself, I want to have the hardcover of this book on my shelf its a goodie! As they head into the mountains, morale is high, but as the terrain turns treacherous, cracks in the relationships start to show. Don’t get me wrong, I could easily see it playing out just the way it was written, but, nevertheless, it felt a bit over-the-top all the same. This year they are lacing up the hiking boots, packing their rucksacks and heading for the mountains in Beautiful Norway. Tristan cheats on Ginny regularly, (not just with her sister), and Paul has quit his well-paying investment banker job because he was accused of assaulting another woman in an elevator. Our family are big hikers, we’ve been hiking with our kids since they were babies, and living so close to the mountains here in Alberta, we are very lucky to be less than a one hour drive to some of the most beautiful provincial and national parks in Canada.

The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. In fact, it would make one heck of a thrilling movie or TV series, so I’ll be crossing my fingers on that score. This psychological thriller will keep you glued to the pages and take you away to the Norwegian mountains where you'll feel you are hiking along with the four main characters of this book, Liz, Maggie, Helena and Joni who are lifelong friends going off on their annual holiday. British author Lucy Clarke gifts her audience with a brand-new wilderness thriller, set in the beautiful but dangerous surrounds of Norway. With no choice but to move forward, Ben finds himself falling deeper and deeper into a world of man-eating giants, bizarre demons, and colossal insects.
