About this deal

With some very infamous cases of missing children still fresh on the news – one in particular is mentioned – then you have an opinion of each of these whilst reading this book. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. The man at the story’s centre, DI Adam Fawley, is a welcome addition to the genre of police procedurals, a man unafraid to speak his mind and get to the truth, however difficult or uncomfortable it turns out to be. So pleased I have found a new author and I’m determined not to leave it too long before I read the second in the series.

The further into the story I read, more and more alarm bells were going off in my head as to who took Daisy, especially Dasiy's parents, both of whom I greatly disliked. El nombre de la saga hace referencia al inspector Adam Fawley, pero Daisy es el centro de todo, no el inspector. Extreme suspension of disbelief is required to believe Daisy and her group of friends are just eight-years-old from their emotional articulacy to the complicated friendship dynamics of a group who should surely be more concerned with playground games. The way the investigation is portrayed also means we get a strong sense of how much of police work is luck, how easy it is for detectives to miss key information simply by not asking exactly the right question or by assuming a fact without checking.

The storyline is easily conceivable and all the characters were genuine, well defined, and rich with emotion. I don't believe the police would assume the mother must have been the guilty party just as a default to the image not being male. DI Fawley works against the clock to find any trace of the little girl, but it's as if she disappeared into thin air--no one saw anything; no one knows anything. Daisy is portrayed as a precocious and exceptionally bright child with a circle of exclusive and similarly erudite friends, both supremely confident and able to express their emotions candidly.

An intense read that requires concentration and thought, it’s designed to keep us on our toes and barely gives us time or space to step away for even the briefest of pauses. With DI Fawley and he’s team starting to investigate its instantly apparent that doubt surrounds both parents Sharon and Barry’s accountability, they soon appear to be the prime suspects. Hunter is an accomplished storyteller with an excellent understanding of how to manipulate the audience to her own ends, and is sure to become a household name with a couple more novels under her belt. Existen muchos autores y libros sobre el género por conocer, y solo tengo una vida, por lo que me parece más importante descubrir diferentes prosas, que buscar en un segundo, tercer o cuarto libro de esta autora, lo que seguramente no encontraré.

The secrets just kept on coming, and just when you thought you knew all there was to know, there was more. I would like to thank Penguin Books UK and Net Galley for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

In the meantime, the media have parked up outside their home with no intention of leaving anytime soon.Often there would be a plot reveal in the present, followed by the flashback relating to it, increasing my dread at every turn.
