I can relate to Lista, similar to her I care a great deal about the people close to me and I'm also brave. They’re both older, more mature, and have seen and experienced things, unlike say Poppy from the Blood and Ash books. She relays so much on her intuition/ability to read people that when she can’t, she just seems to take their word at face value or close to it.And even though the premise is a clear set up for including spice, I also really enjoyed the rest of the story, too.

It was the same in all the places Grady and I had lived in before the Midlands’ city of Archwood, which had caused me to be accused of being a conjurer and led to us fleeing in the middle of the night more times than I cared to remember to avoid the hangman’s noose. I really liked her interactions with her prince, Thorne, as she learns more about him and his powers. I had never read a book by this author prior to reading this first installment of the Awakening series.

And I was of the mind that the Feasts were more of a way to provide the Hyhborn with what they wanted.

JLA has been critiqued extensively for her repetitive 'I have a question' with Poppy, rather than just asking the fucking question, and this had the same rage inducing effect that I would have preferred be omitted. Her young adult romantic suspense novel DON’T LOOK BACK was a 2014 nominated Best in Young Adult Fiction by YALSA.He’s somewhat cold, with barely any emotions, so it’s harder to get a warm, fuzzy feeling between the 2 but I have faith that JLA will dish out all the feels in the sequel. Sorry not sorry to disappoint people but these characters had no connection (in my option) past the smut.
