About this deal

Come to our boutique in McLean, VA today to explore our hand-picked selection of designer niche colognes and perfumes. Got my bottle today sealed from the 90's, I can say that some of the notes in my bottle has obviously aged. I think that the colder periods will reinforce the character of this perfume, with in the background the memory of Poison. The citrus opening is very traditional except with the feminine neroli and orange blossom aroma which I've smelt on women's perfumes.

To be honest, it was primarily for the Opium which is still, to this day, my favorite perfume in all the world (in vintage version). Bulletproof sillage (I could smell the mouillettes from the bin), devastating longevity (I just wanted to take it off and it wouldn’t. You’ll probably join me then in being a very tiny minority who adores poor, much-maligned Amarige, Mr. Prior to this I had never heard of this perfume or the house that produces it, but it is considered by many afficionados to be the ultimate tuberose fragrance that perfumers since have been trying and failing repeatedly since 1947 to hold a candle to. It is in some way an ‘ultimate’ tuberose fragrance because it does capture the full array of elements often described ranging from fleshy and carnal, to floral and heady, to sweet with decay. The first effect of the scent brings forth notes of hyacinth, mandarin, green notes, zesty bergamot, and orange blossom. Fracas continued to hold sway until sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s when it faded into the mists of legend. It feels rather out of step with modern interpretations of white florals, which seem to look towards highlighting more of the non-floral aspects of the overall compositions. He would lean so hard, without ever looking at me, eyes straight ahead, until he was sprawled across my lap, head in my book-- an unignorable near 100 lbs of soft, velvety insistence.

She certainly had a penchant for bold strokes and shock value, both of which are defining characteristics of Fracas—a perfume that could only have been made after World War II, and in my opinion, only by a woman. I literally feel like I’m being smothered to death by a powder puff of screeching geriatric florals. However, I remain quite entertained by his views and often read bits and pieces on my ipad while standing in line. Either way, one thing is undeniable: it is a legend which set the standard for all white florals which followed. The lime, apple, neroli and bergamot are very masculine/citrus top notes that actually last quite well, and the sillage of teak wood is great in the drydown as well.i picked Givenchy from perfumania , 2 bottles of Amarige… can you believe me if i say I just read what is the difference between the fragrances ? The problem I really have is not that a scent is “feminine” per se, but that I don’t feel confident wearing it – which I think is an important element of any perfume. On me, it is predominantly tuberose and gardenia, with a touch of green, a base of creamy earthiness and, yes, a strong feeling of a hot body after sex. I don’t even think younger people who want to show a sense of cultivated taste would wear it in the way they wear Chanel No.

since Jean-Claude Ellena took over as the in-house nose in 2004, seems to tend towards light and minimalistic. It’s fun to read about someone’s love for a fragrance and the memories that it envokes…absolutely wonderful post. French perfume house, Robert Piquet, wanted to create a fragrance that represented Paris’ freedom and femininity. I adore big, bombastic florals in the cold weather, it tames them utterly and makes them so wearable. It's almost impossible to say, since " Alfin/ Orinter" bottles from the 1980s are very, very rare, and almost impossible to find, so it's very difficult to perform a side-by-side comparison.I felt I had to mention them because, for all I know, I’ve simply been imprinted with Fracas at such a young age that I’m immune from realising its effects on others. I really don't mind that butter aspect as much as I used to thanks to being converted by the buttery tuberose in Versace's Blonde. Cellier, then one of the only women working as a "nose" in formal perfumery, dedicated it to actress Edwige Feuillère, who had been the object of scandal when she appeared nude in the 1935 film Lucrezia Borgia. It’s because (vintage) Fracas contains two of the most indolic flowers around – jasmine and tuberose.
