About this deal

With considerable and easy availability, it can be processed almost anywhere and by its nature it will deliver consistent results. However, since the film is daylight balanced, you will want to account for the light sources you’re using when taking photos. Even when enlarged, ULTRA MAX 400 Film delivers excellent sharpness and fine grain for crisp, clear pictures. The somewhat flatter appearance is also a big plus if you are into scanning and editing your images, as this provides greater control over the final look of the image.

Its wide exposure latitude allows for capturing vibrant colours in daylight, and beautiful portrait shots too. Provia does a great job for landscaping, with good light condition, but when I used it in a ralatively low light condition, it came with a weird green and blue tone. With using Ultramax 400 in mainly compact cameras which lack manual controls, I can either modify the DX Code or shoot at box speed. We’ll send you exciting photography interviews, crazy tips and tricks, competitions giveaways, and unmissable offers. Kodak Ultramax 400 is a good go-to film for me when I want something where I do not want to be “that person”.

This may have something to do with the fact that I used to live in sunny Chiang Mai (Thailand) or how the ancient minilab machines interpreted the colours of this film. Kodak's UltraMax 400 is a high-speed daylight-balanced color negative film offering a wide exposure latitude for greater versatility, as well as a fine grain structure with consistent and accurate colors. These days it is just as expensive as any other color negative film and whenever I came across it, it had been sold out shortly after. There are two different options for Kodak Ultramax - you can choose between a 36 exposure roll or a 24 exposure roll. Your film’s dynamic range measures how well it can render shadows and highlights in the same shot and how contrasty the results will look.I think you either were intentionally trying to make the Gold look better, or you need to work on basic finishing skills. I developed the rolls of Kodak UltraMax and Kodak Gold separately (obviously, because one roll was pushed one stop). Ultramax 400 may be a Jack of all trades, but it’s not just a cheap film that makes pretty pictures in most environments.
