About this deal

You can set a variation amount for randomising the value and a range to hem it in, giving it a nicely varied feel. The dealer has been great, but Korg haven’t really taken their share of the burden on this one, still a fanboy, but it’s no Elektron experience just yet. The DRUM track outputs can be fine-tuned to match the polarity and voltage of your connected device(s). There are all the usual suspects when it comes to scale choice but I couldn’t find a way to save my own custom scales.

All your patterns can also be freely chained and looped, making this the ultimate device for machine live! The 3 melody tracks include a MODULATION output, so every step on your sequence can be creating complex modulations on your gear of choice, greatly expanding your options and possibilities for sound creation. SQ64 may have been lacking at launch, but the updates they did to it over the last couple years made this one of the best, most versatile pieces of CV-generating gear that exists.i got some strange clockissues too on the syncout, it's powered with PSU but also connected via usb to my DAW (for controller events and receiving clocks). Add to that the 4 alternative sequence playback options - stochastic, random, bounce and reverse - and the ability to loop and chain any pattern you make, and you've got even more scope for complex music creation.

Or you can use the step input mode by switching the pads into Keyboard mode (no velocity) with various scale settings. For all its connectivity, the SQ‑64 doesn’t have any CV inputs other than Sync, and it can’t record anything other than notes over MIDI. It's been designed to take pride of place in your studio - delivering additional control over your other instruments and gear in the process.Yes it’s in the drum tracks… I understand what you’re saying , but why on earth would anyone want to copy a single step of 16 drum tracks at once? Powered through USB or external 9V DC adaptor, a choice of power options offer both versatility and flexibility. My local vendor (Perfect Circuit) has no word, but succinctly mentioned that while supplies and production are cut in half, demand is up by a factor of three. It's hard to explain, but you can look at Loopop's video from 13:00 to 14:00, it's easier to show than explain.

It’s heavy, solid, metallic and stands less than 2cm tall, with its eight rubber feet sticking firmly to your table. The track independence is powerful and versatile and brings both the danger and joy of accidentally mixing your patterns up and subverting your intentions. Featuring extensive editing functionality, with simple yet intuitive controls to match, this piece of gear ushers in the latest iteration of hardware sequencing. There doesn’t appear to be a step‑record function where you tap notes and have them added to the next step, and this feels a strange omission on a hardware sequencer. THE TIME PERIOD OF THIS DELAY IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN BUT WE ARE WORKING WITH COURIER SERVICES TO RESUME NORMAL SERVICE. I do wish that the transport controls had a light on, rather than just when active, which would nullify any fumbling around in the dark. The percussion track has 16 sub‑tracks that all share the same number of steps and tempo/timing of the master track, but you can program them independently for 16 channels of percussive sound over MIDI or eight over CV. The OLED Display is crystal clear, bright and visible from any angle, so you can have access to all the information you need no matter whether you are making music at home, in the studio or playing live!

i've always lurved Korg stuff, spent my early 20's butts deep in an Electribe, was my only hardware. Recording can be done from external MIDI input, though you will need to switch MIDI channels on the transmitting device to address each track, there is no specific track arming, you just record what you want. I power my sq64 with external DC power, not via usb and it works fairly well with the noon, but I prefer to use it to control envelopes elsewhere for more expressive results with the noon.I really like the idea of the SQ-64, does anyone have time to check the “tightness” of the clock, especially when acting as a slave and then outputting to other midi devices? This is similar to what you would get from something like an Arturia Keystep Pro, but here you sacrifice the keyboard for a device that is around a quarter of the size.
