About this deal

If that wasn't the icing on the cake to turn me completely off from Rose in this story, her ridiculous game playing with Jack after that encounter did it. On another note, the main conflict hinged on the hero not being fully transparent with ‘something,’ and he didn’t admit to it until the last 20%—so you have the (drawn out) withholding secrets’ trope.

In November, I revisited my Top 19 of 2019 list in honor of my blogiversary – it was my most popular post of 2019 (with 11 views! Somewhere in between all the pretending, I completely fell for you, and I can’t even think of my life without you in it. But whatever it is that's at the heart of his cowardice, the inescapable fact is that he's manipulating her through information withholding and he just decided that he'll never ever actually tell her. Gahhh when he kisses her temple or rubs circles on her back or pushes her hair out of her face or touches his forehead to hers or caresses the back of her head- BAM I’m 🤰🤰🤰🤰🤰 he’s perrrfect. the way Rose desperately noted very half smile or twist of his lips bcos she couldn’t wait to see him smile fully for the first time – at her?Bear in mind that it's the sole foundation for the highly negative motivation* that is the only thing holding him back from being all in. You'd think a guy who looked like him-a bit cold maybe, but still striking and very unattainable-would only ask the love of his life to marry him, right?

It's along the lines of To Love Jason Thorn and To Hate Adam Connor, hopefully it'll be even better.

We’re getting closer and closer to Maise releasing another romance, so now’s the time to finally move this one up your TBR if you haven’t yet! they were all unique and discreet, but simultaneously noticeable and each one had me internally squealing. I love a good marriage of convenience novel because the two have to pretend to love each other in public and that's when the lines blur between pretend and real feelings.Do u understand how hard it is to find a couple that fits into this trope where you love BOTH characters? He's so moody and rude and filthy rich, and he is so hot and cold with Rose, it's honestly exhausting. The story then follows how they are trying to pretend just for their fake marriage but you know what they weren't pretending because they both fell in love with each other. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral.

I should have expected it if I had noticed she's also the author of The Hardest Fall where we have similar shenanigans. Also I’m not ashamed to say that I -as well as Rose- was highly anticipating and counting Jack smiles! I am so happy for her that she found Jack because all her life she thought she had no one by her side, no family. Ella warned me that this book would not be my cup of tea because of the slow burn, and she was right about 35% through the novel. It’d been a long wait, a pretty long wait that had been worth it because when he smiled…when the skin around his eyes gently crinkled, turning his expression into something completely different than what it was when he was frowning…I simply couldn’t stop staring. This showcases the meaning of true intimacy and features some exceptional dialogue that builds into a chemistry that leaps off the page. Some of the dialogues were cringey or stiff or just didn’t flow seamlessly, though not so much that I was turned off. I’m not saying that to deter you; it is a FANTASTIC book that will linger in my memory for a long time to come, but you’ve got to stick around for the romance to turn a corner. Love seeing how they slowly build up their relationship, falling into their adorable daily routine, standing up up for each other in times of need and slowly started falling for each other.
