What once was a deeper and more spacious soundstage is now congesting towards one shallower plane and melting together more. If you’re DAC possesses a SPDIF digital input, RCA or BNC one, and you would like to experiment with digital signal cleaning but you find USB regenerators and the use of two USB cables expensive and/or cumbersome – then Allo DigiOne could be an affordable alternative that being a HAT and not the external device requires only one digital cable.

I use PiCorePlayer to simulate a Squeezebox Player that plays files from a dedicated networked media server that hosts Logitech Media Server (LMS). Equipped with a DIR WM8805 chip, it ensures the digital transfer of the Raspberry Pi with High Fidelity.There are many similar devices that can do the same, even your phone, but the focus here is on the audiophile’s needs with little to no compromise on audio quality from the source and upwards, and this gives you the flexibility to choose your own high-end DAC for a more modular system.

Also, it’s be helpful if you stated what DAC you intend to use with the Allo as this may help determine whether USB or S/PDIF is best. In fact, for me the situation would be even more clear cut now as Schiit have released a Modi 3 plus, with their “Unison USB” connection.

It now had a new IP address based on the new WiFi connection, and after using the new address in my web browser the same interface was available again, waiting for my command.

Roon Bridge was installed at the command line after which we specify the Allo HAT as the output device in Volumio’s Playback Settings page and then nominate it as the chosen output device in Roon’s own audio settings. I am connecting Zen stream to gustard x26 dac and wondering if gustard u16/18 make significant difference. I took my time with this one and put it through its paces; here is my review of the new DigiOne Signature from Allo.The DigiOne Signature was left on to play for at least 2 weeks to ensure all electronics are burned in and stable. I built a little streamer using the DigiOne (not the Signature), and it gives my Auralic Aries G1 a run for the money. In a neat, small and pretty enclosure, you get the Raspberry Pi computer and the DigiOne add-on component boards that is plugged in directly to the Raspberry Pi.

I got the clear acrylic version, but I prefer the smoky black acrylic version as it looks more mysterious, blends in better with black HiFi gear, and hides dust collecting over time on the insides.

I purchased this DigiOne unit myself and was personally impressed with its effect on the sound quality. I have been using the usb out and zen stream seems to have much more energetic top end, very clear vocals with much tighter bass in comparison.
