The contribution that sport coaches make to society has received growing recognition among policy-makers over the last decade. He was awarded an Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and a Life Membership of the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 2002. He is creator of 'The Leadership Tree', a model developed from his own experience as an introverted leader and his work with existing, aspiring and reluctant leaders across higher education and healthcare.
