Can only rate appearance of product, unfortunately, as these have been bought as a birthday present for my granddaughter. Since the greatest cost comes from the source pigments, the more expensive of these are substituted with alternatives to create hues that still provide high tinting strength and transparency. If using a six colour mixing system we would recommend Lemon Yellow Hue, Cadmium Yellow Pale Hue, Ultramarine, Intense Blue, Permanent Rose and Cadmium Red Hue. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is because it is a lot smaller looking than I expected. The range of 40 colours are chosen according to mass tone (colour from tube), undertone (bias of colour when in a thin film), colour strength, relative opacity and the character of the pigment itself. The variety of colours is insane, especially in comparison to my old watercolour palette which was so limited. This pocket-sized set is ideal for outdoor watercolour painting, as it has a curated colour palette that suits those new to watercolour and experienced artists alike, along with a travel brush. Upgrading to our Artists' Water Colour range means that you will have a much wider and balanced spectrum of colours to choose from, giving you the widest choice of pigments as well as unparalleled brilliance of colour and transparency.The little individually wrapped watercolours are very cute though, and I've been told by an artist that they will last a long time. umbers, ochres; others come from metal compounds and are sometimes termed 'traditional' or 'genuine', eg.
