I always enjoy what David Baldacci brings to the table and marvel at how he can keep multiple series on the go by himself.

As Atlee and her assistant, Carol Blum, race to track down the suspect, they run into Pine's old friend and fellow agent, John Puller, who is investigating the suspect's family for another crime. Her actions cause her to inadvertently stumble across the path of John Puller ( Zero Day, The Forgotten, etc. In previous books Atlee has relentlessly dug into her past to reveal startling revelations about her parents. In this third book in the Atlee Pine series, FBI agent Pine and John Puller have to work together to achieve their goal.

She is a strong female protagonist who can hold her own against most and she is a relentless investigator. This book can be easily read as a standalone as the author easily recaps Atlee's backstory and besides much of the story involves a new investigation that Atlee is sidetracked into. Here she continues the pursuit of her missing twin sister Mercy, missing since they were 6 years old. She found some pictures and a VCR tape and also found a lot more information about her parents and the missing gangster but was disappointed because I did not feel the missing sister part of the story was completely resolved.

Atlee’s mother apparently created quite the stir testifying and Ito may have wanted to take matters into his own hands. Highly recommended for fans of suspenseful mysteries – a superb continuation of an already outstanding series. This is an action thriller story featuring FBI agent Pine who becomes embroiled in a convoluted conspiracy involving drugs, sex parties, political intrigue and a sordid cover-up.While following leads, Pine crosses paths with CID John Puller whom she has worked with on other cases and it appears that his case has some overlap with Pine’s case, so they decide to work together. I have long used audio to read Baldacci, so I am used to the intertwined voices and characters that appear throughout.
