About this deal

It is based around a school which will allow children to relate to it easily, therefore engaging their attention. Through several incidents, findings, ease droppings, Jill and David plotted their escape for help as they knew they were in a place where everything was abnormal. It acts as a GCSE school to fool the authorities and even the parents who put their children in Grange are not informed about the involvement of magic. I'm a little bothered that David, the main character hasn't decided whether he'll be practicing black magic or white magic.

The ship's captain, Captain Bloodbath, ferries them to Skrull Island (a parody of Skull Island), which is where Groosham Grange is located. The graphic novel is a brilliant adaptation of the full novel, bringing comedy and horror together perfectly… Darkly comedic, this GN will certainly appeal to a lot of readers and hopefully they will then find the original to enjoy as well. However, on all attempts they failed and on their 13th birthdays, they were converted to the magical side at Groosham Grange. It introduces a detective by the name of Daniel Hawthorne - a rather dark and dangerous man whom I actually met on the set of Injustice.Anthony Horowitz wrote Groosham Grange before the Harry Potter series came out, yet it is hard to read Groosham without comparing it to Harry Potter. David Eliot is 10 year old boy who does not know he is a sorcerer until his father recieves a strange letter in the mail inviting David to a special school. The mystery deepens one night when David awakens to see them all trooping off into the library, where they vanish.

Sent to Groosham Grange by his parents, twelve years old David Eliot quickly discovers that his new school is a very odd place indeed. Upon hearing the news, his father reacts rather badly, forcing David to take refuge in his room to avoid the commotion. Horowitz had always intended for Groosham Grange to be the basis for a series, but he revealed to a fan on Twitter in 2021 that while he did indeed have plans to continue the series with a third book, he was dissuaded after the success of the Harry Potter series.

But here I am, writing a book in which I have no idea what's going on, following in the footsteps of a character who refuses to tell me anything. Sent to Groosham Grange as a last resort by his frustrated parents, thirteen-year-old David Eliot quickly discovers that his new boarding school is very peculiar. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. After being expelled again from school, he receives an invitation to attend an unusual school located on an island. Aimed at a similar audience of that of Horowitz's The Diamond Brothers series, it was partially based on the years Horowitz himself spent at his boarding school and his own unhappy childhood.

This began with two Sherlock Holmes continuation novels, The House of Silk and Moriarty, followed by my entry into the world of James Bond with Trigger Mortis. Horowitz nicely demonstrates the age-gap (or in this case, the age-yawning-void) perpetuated by the central characters’ parents, who impose their values, ideals, and dreams on the next generation without finding out what their children actually want. Misterious activies are happening at the school, as David realizes the colleagues go missing in the middle of the night but appear in their beds in the morning again. Every night, the students also get out of their beds and suddenly disappear from the school without a trace.

Meanwhile, Jill had just run away from her old boarding school, and her parents also received a letter praising the school's merits and describing it as a chic college for young girls. It uses simple and informative language which engages the reader and sets the finish of each chapter with the suspense of wanting to continue. As the three children are talking about their new boarding school, a vicar enters their compartment.
