About this deal

This includes a special box, unique hero and leader cards, exclusive item and magic cards, and a dice tower.

Build a party of valiant heroes, use Magic and Item cards to gain an edge, or roll the dice and try to slay a monster. Placing hero cards down straight away can give you a free one-shot bonus (which therefore costs an action to play) and strengthen your party. I tend to remove and separate the expansions and place them in to their own containers, then save the game to reload for future use.

Here to Slay is a great addition to any household, due to being a great two-player game, but also a fantastic game for a larger group. There are also magic cards and upgrade cards that are usually highly interactive, as interfering with other players is a core part of the game. It’s a straightforward game that plays well with more casual gamers, but it feels extremely chaotic and games can last for anywhere between ten minutes to an hour and a half, often just due to the luck of the draw.

The base game requires you to collect either 3 monster cards, or one hero of every class (6 in total). None of this vastly changes the gameplay and is really just some bonus items for backing the project. However, I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.Having played this game several times now, I have to say that it’s a game that I can see myself coming back to over and over again! Versus another similar card which gave a simple +3 (which is already very broken) with the same limit of 6, which was way too easy to get. Challenge cards can be played instantly to try to stop another player from playing a hero, item, or magic card.

Like the neigh, sometimes success is simply about running your opponents out of their modifiers by continuing to attempt skill rolls, or rolling a number so high that their modifier cards won’t help. The base game provides 6 Party leaders, but with an additional 2 Party Leaders provided in this expansion, this raises the maximum to 8 players in a game. Modifier cards can be played on your turn or an opponent’s turn to raise or lower roll values, while challenge cards are played in response to an opponent and cause you both to roll the D6s. This holiday expansion pairs with the Here to Slay, a strategic roleplaying game from the creators of Unstable Unicorns. That’s another nice aspect – there’s two ways of winning Here to Slay: you can win either by having a party that contains one of each character type or by slaying three monsters. If the challenging player gets the higher roll, the card that the opponent was playing gets discarded.

Here to Slay is an adorable and brutal new card game that is perfect for players of all skill levels, whether you’re just entering the world of role-playing games or honing your masterful skills. It’s the same art style and quirk that Unstable Unicorns has and I enjoy with it’s own game play mechanics that make the game different.Don’t let the fact that the game came from Kickstarter put you off, the entire campaign was run to perfection and you can tell that from the moment to open the box, with a small magnetic clip to open the lid and the plastic moulding around all the cards and dice, plus the artwork is to die kill for! Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Here to Slay is a competitive role-playing fantasy strategy card game that's all about assembling a party of Heroes and slaying monsters (and sometimes sabotaging your friends too) from the creators of Unstable Unicorns. For example, an 8+ roll is a successful roll and a 5- is a failed roll) Kill three unique monsters, and you win the game! The game also includes items you can equip to your heroes, 1V1 challenge cards, and roll modifiers to tip the odds in your favour.
